St Kilda is set to unveil its ninth debutant for the 2025 season with first-year ruckman, Alex Dodson named to make his debut this week under Friday night lights at Marvel Stadium.Joining the club via pick No. 53 in last year’s draft, Dodson was declared 2024’s ‘biggest draft slider’ after building his credentials in the SANFL and for SA in the AFL U18 Championship, cementing himself as the premier ruck option of his draft class.Knowing his way around a basketball court, the 203cm cross-coder captained his state and represented Australia in his draft year on the hardwoods before declining a US scholarship and setting his sights on the Sherrin.Dodson’s elevation to the senior side comes off the back of a career best game for Sandringham on the weekend, seeing the 19-year-old rack up 35 disposals, 41 hitouts, seven clearances.“We’re proud to see Alex earn his spot in the senior side after displaying consistent growth and form for Sandringham throughout the season,” EGM Football David Misson said.“Alex knows he has the trust of all the staff and players as he steps up for his first game at the elite level.“We can’t wait to welcome the Dodson family to Marvel Stadium on Friday night and see Alex take this opportunity with both hands.”
