Red Roses to host New Zealand, Canada and Australia in WXV Global Series

England will host Canada in a rematch of last year’s Rugby World Cup final, as well as taking on New Zealand in the WXV Global Series.

A revamp of the women’s Test calendar has seen individual unions take back control of their home fixtures in the September and October window, with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) understood to have been a key voice in that decision as they look to continue to build the profile of the Red Roses.

A reunion with Canada, who they beat 33-13 to secure the World Cup crown, at Exeter’s Sandy Park is one of three fixtures for England this September, along with an encounter with Australia in Salford and clash with the Black Ferns at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium.

“We embrace these massive occasions and there is not a lot better than a Red Roses v Black Ferns fixture,” said Meg Jones, who has been appointed England captain with regular skipper Zoe Stratford pregnant. “It is always an incredible feeling to play against them but playing them at Allianz Stadium heightens that excitement even more.”

Having sold out Twickenham for the World Cup final, the Red Roses return to action for the first time against Ireland at the start of the Women’s Six Nations with close to 70,000 tickets sold.

They are also thought to be close to confirming a tour to North America in October as their fixture list takes shape.
