Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid is not only about trophies and expectations. It is also about restoring confidence in players who failed to hit their usual standards last season.

According to Defensa Central, the Portuguese coach has already identified four members of the squad that he believes can take a significant step forward under his guidance.

On that note, the likes of Jude Bellingham, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eduardo Camavinga and Dean Huijsen are all viewed as footballers capable of producing much more than they showed over the previous campaign.

Mourinho wants to elevate four Real Madrid stars

One of Mourinho’s defining traits throughout his managerial career has been his ability to maximise the qualities of his players, particularly those who have gone through difficult periods.

That challenge now awaits him at Real Madrid.

For starters, Bellingham remains one of the club’s most important assets, but expectations surrounding the England international mean that any dip in performance attracts immediate scrutiny.

Furthermore, Camavinga also endured an inconsistent season, while Alexander-Arnold is still adapting to life in Madrid after arriving with enormous expectations attached to his name.

Lastly, Dean Huijsen is another player Mourinho is expected to work closely with.

The Portuguese coach knows the defender well from their time together at Roma and has never hidden the admiration he has for the youngster’s potential.

Bellingham and Huijsen expected to benefit most

According to the outlet, Mourinho’s reputation for building strong relationships with players and creating highly competitive environments is considered one of the reasons behind the confidence surrounding this new era.

In that regard, Bellingham holds enormous respect for Mourinho, while Huijsen already knows what to expect from the experienced manager.

Within the club, there is a belief that Mourinho’s demanding approach can help players rediscover consistency and confidence after difficult periods.

Real Madrid have invested heavily in these talents over recent years, and ensuring players such as Bellingham, Camavinga and Huijsen continue progressing remains a major objective.

With the season approaching, it will be interesting to see how these players gel up with the new coach.

Javier Pastore, the agent of Real Madrid target, Enzo Fernandez, has confirmed that they are assessing potential moves away from Chelsea for the midfielder, although he insists the player’s current focus remains entirely on Argentina’s World Cup campaign.

The former Argentina international, who now represents Enzo, spoke to MARCA during an Argentine Football Association event in Miami, where he confirmed plans are being laid out for the midfielder’s departure from London.

Exit from Chelsea Under Consideration

When asked about links with Real Madrid, Pastore confirmed that no agreement has been reached with any club but acknowledged that his team is looking at possible exits from Chelsea.

“Today the player is calmly focused on the National Team, he’s playing in a World Cup, he’s very close to advancing to the round of 16…,” said Pastore.

“He’s only thinking about that and we’re looking at possibilities for him to leave Chelsea, but there’s nothing firm or confirmed with any club.”

Pastore also addressed suggestions that Enzo would welcome a move to Madrid, something that the midfielder has hinted at in the past.

“He has many friends there, and he’s very good friends with Julian Alvarez, and in the end, they spend all their free time together there,” the former PSG midfielder said.

“And I’m also living in Madrid. Every time he traveled, it was to see me and to sort out work matters, but besides that: who doesn’t love Madrid? I didn’t even play in Madrid… I even live there.”

Focused on the World Cup

However, Pastore said that Enzo is fully concentrated on helping Argentina succeed at the tournament.

“He is doing well, very positive, he is having a very good World Cup, in the first two matches he helped the team to win comfortably,” noted Pastore.

Asked about Enzo’s best position, Pastore highlighted the midfielder’s versatility, saying:

“Enzo’s position has changed a lot in recent years. He’s played deep or as a midfielder getting forward into the box.

“Here with the national team, he starts deep but ultimately he’s the only midfielder who gets forward and is close to Messi. He’s a player who adapts very well to any position.”

Real Madrid move unlikely

Despite the strong links to Real Madrid and Enzo and his agent openly flirting with the idea of a move to Spain, a move at this point seems unlikely.

While Los Blancos admire the Chelsea and Argentina midfielder, his price tag, which is likely to be around €140 million, is seen as a hindrance by the Spanissh capital club.
