'I would not want my heart to give in' - Allegri thrilled to see Milan edge tight Torino contest

Massimiliano Allegri hailed AC Milan for clinching an important win, while joking that he did not "want my heart to give in" after they edged a five-goal thriller against Torino.

Milan got back to winning ways in Serie A with a 3-2 victory over Torino, and moved back into second in the table, just five points behind leaders Inter.

Giovanni Simeone cancelled out Strahinja Pavlovic's opener, but a quickfire double from Adrien Rabiot and Youssouf Fofana in the second half put Milan in control before Nikola Vlasic's penalty rounded off the scoring.

Milan are now unbeaten in 30 home games against Torino in Serie A (W21 D9), only going on a better run against Verona in the top flight (34 games between May 1958 and December 2025).

Allegri was seen saying, "I try to stay calm, but this way you make me lose the desire. I will stop coaching", to the fourth official, but he insisted it was the stress of a tight game getting to him.

"It's the heat of the moment," he said to DAZN. "I am starting to get older. As I get older, I would not want my heart to give in!

"So, at that moment, the match was very important for us. We were coming from the defeat against Lazio, and in the first half, we found a very good Torino in the first half hour.

"When the championship starts, you think about examining the game, from March onwards, what happens? We have to think first about winning the game and then looking at the standings, then we don't have any more time to fix it.

"It was important to win. We had lost to Parma and Lazio; it was not easy to win, and Torino played a good game."

Milan have now won three of their last four games in Serie A as they continue to put pressure on Inter heading into the final eight matches of the season.

They also remain in control of the top-four race, having restored their one-point lead over Napoli, who they play immediately after the international break.

"We look behind us. It is one less victory that is missing from what is our priority goal," Allegri said of the upcoming contest.

"Then certainly with this ranking, it will be a nice evening of football and sport in Naples, with second against third in the standings."
