Palace looking at potentially busy day

Alex Howell

BBC Sport football reporter

It could be a busy day for Crystal Palace who could make two to three signings.

The Eagles are progressing with a deal for Jorgen Strand Larsen as a likely replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who looks to be joining AC Milan.

Palace are also on the lookout for a centre-back to replace Marc Guehi.

It is doubtful that they would get a player to match the ability or pedigree of Guehi considering he is an England international and has joined title challengers Manchester City.

Palace also have young centre-backs Chadi Riad and Jaydee Canvot. Although they are both raw, the club will not want to block their pathway either.

The club are going to be open to the market and a third player could be brought in if there was the right situation, but, as with everything on deadline day, things could change.

West Ham book medical for Chelsea defender Disasi

Nizaar Kinsella

BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

West Ham have booked a medical amid talks to sign Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old is open to the move but sources inside the deal describe it as "not done", with a medical booked in case an agreement is reached, which is standard practice on deadline day.

Disasi has not played for Chelsea for over a year and spent time in the club’s so-called “bomb squad” after failing to secure a summer move, having been deemed surplus to requirements.

However, he has worked his way back into the Under-21s and first-team training since the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach, but has not made a senior appearance since 20 January 2025.

'With that kind of money you want him now'

Paul Merson

Former Arsenal midfielder speaking on Sky Sports

On Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet moving to Liverpool in the summer:

I found it extraordinary that he is coming in the summer. They need a centre-half now to get top four or top five.

I’m majorly shocked. I don’t know why for the life of me he’s staying in France until the start of next season. With that kind of money, you want him now!

Stanway closing in on summer move to Arsenal

We've had an update from BBC Sport women’s football news reporter Emma Sanders this morning on the future of England midfielder Georgia Stanway.

The two-time Euros winner is increasingly close to a summer move to Arsenal. We're awaiting paperwork for a pre-contract agreement but the move has been verbally discussed and Stanway has chosen to return to the Women's Super League when her current deal with Bayern Munich finishes at the end of the season.

The deal does not need to be signed this window but all parties are keen to sort it as soon as possible so they can concentrate on the rest of the season.

Speaking of the women's transfer window, the deadline is tomorrow, Tuesday 3 February at 23:00 GMT - and we will have a dedicated live page tracking all of the incomings and outgoings here on the BBC Sport website.

You can check out all of the deals that have been done so far by WSL clubs on our transfer tracker.

Leicester working on Mukasa loan deal

Shamoon Hafez

Football news reporter

Championship strugglers Leicester City are in talks to sign midfielder Divine Mukasa from Premier League side Manchester City on loan for the remainder of the season.

Highly-rated teenager Mukasa has broken into the City first team this season, making six appearances in all competitions.

The 18-year-old may also sign a new contract at Etihad Stadium before a possible move into the second tier.

Interim Foxes boss Andy King confirmed interest in the player on Saturday, saying, external after the 2-0 loss against Charlton: “He [Mukasa] is a very promising young player. It’s something the club have been trying to pursue. If we can get him, that’s great news. We’ve seen a lot of him and we rate him very highly.”
