Roma’s Mile Svilar reveals Juventus move never took off

Serie A side Roma have seen Mile Svilar grow in stature since Daniele De Rossi became manager. The keeper rejected a move to Juventus and he has now been asked about his situation in Rome.

The Serbian has become one of the best keepers in the league in the last couple of campaigns. Get Italian Football News covered how Roma rejected the bid and this response was rather definitive.

Svilar spoke to Corriere della Sera about his growth at Roma. He was specifically about a move to Juventus.

He said – via Calciomercato: "I haven't even had a conversation about this. I'm not someone who signs a contract extension until 2030 and then reneges on the decision I made the following year."

Svilar also revealed how he stops overthinking, as it impacts how he plays.

"My real enemy is thinking. Do you know what the hardest part of my job is? It's the part where I don't do anything. In fact, the part where everyone thinks I don't do anything. I think. Which is harder than making saves. Yes, because it's easier to always be under stress with the saves; there you don't have time to think, you help yourself with instinct.

He also revealed how he has to think negatively, especially as Roma spend a lot of time attacking

"But in a dominant team like Roma, who play most of the game in the other half of the pitch, I spend a lot of time alone with myself. And I have to think. And I think negatively, a goalkeeper has to do that, he has to always imagine the worst-case scenario. The risk is that negative thoughts overwhelm you. On match day I have a session with my mental coach. I never skip it."

Svilar will see Roma take on Inter this weekend and will have a big say in what will be a huge game.
