WTA Rome Best Bets Including McNally vs Swiatek

0
The WTA Rome tournament second round continues on Friday. The WTA is a very competitive tour right now. No one expected Marta Kostyuk to win Madrid. Will we see a completely unexpected champion in Rome? The French Open could be a lot more wide open than many people think. Will the coming days in Italy shake up the tour even more, or will we see the top players take command and remind everyone they are still the ones to beat in women’s tennis? Heading into the weekend, it’s time to see if chaos will continue to reign on the WTA Tour. LWOS has our best bets for three matches. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.

WTA Rome

McNally – Swiatek: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 0-2

Iga Swiatek lost early in Madrid, but she lost on a day when she did not feel well and had to retire from her match. Swiatek is, therefore, a very interesting story going into the start of her Rome campaign. She wasn’t really playing good tennis in the previous weeks. She has been struggling a lot in 2026. Was her loss in Madrid something which should be viewed as the product of illness, or the product of her ordinary tennis? Maybe it’s a combination of both. Now in Rome, Swiatek has a chance to show what she can do when healthy. It’s her final chance to get her game straightened out before the French Open, so there’s a lot of pressure in this match against Caty McNally.

Best Bet to Make

Swiatek winning in straight sets won’t get you a good price, so this is a game spread match. The spread, which is evenly priced, is 6.5 games. That’s a fairly large spread for a player who has a great reputation but has not been playing well at all. A lower spread – 4.5 games – would seem like something Swiatek can easily cover, but in her current form, 6.5 feels like a lot. McNally would cover the spread if she loses 6-3, 6-3 or 6-4, 6-2. Swiatek could win comfortably and still not cover. Swiatek has to be playing really well to blow out McNally and cover the spread. Her game is not at the level it needs to be. That should help you make up your mind.

That being said, betting on McNally +6.5 games is a value bet for sure.

Wang – Eala: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 1–0

This match looks like a close one. The two players are separated by only nine ranking spots – 33 for Wang, 42 for Eala – and their recent results are fairly similar. Wang is 4-3 in her last seven games, Eala 3-3 in her last six matches. You would have to dig deeper into the details to identify meaningful points of separation between the two players, so that’s what has to be done if you are going to make an informed bet on this match.

Best Bet to Make

This match is a moneyline match, with a reasonable price being attached to Eala as the slight favorite and a great price being assigned to Wang as the slight underdog. The records in the past few weeks are similar, but if you look closely, you’ll see that Eala has been playing and losing to stronger opponents: Elise Mertens, Leylah Fernandez, and Jelena Ostapenko. One of Wang’s last three losses came to Sorana Cirstea, but her other two losses over the past month were against lower-ranked players. Eala’s superior competition leads us to think she will win this match. She will be more battle-tested.

That being said, betting on Eala winning is a value bet for sure.

Samsonova – Li: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 1-1

Liudmila Samsonova reached the third round of Madrid but suffered from an illness which prevented her from playing her third-round match against Linda Noskova. It’s hard to handicap Samsonova’s form right now precisely because her Madrid campaign was cut short for non-tennis reasons. Ann Li beat Iga Swiatek in Madrid and reached the Round of 16, but Swiatek was not feeling well that day and retired from the match in the third set. Samsonova and Li are both hard to pin down because recent matches were decided by illness, not tennis.

Best Bet to Make

It is true that Samsonova’s Madrid loss to Noskova and Li’s Madrid win over Swiatek were decided by health reasons and not tennis, so frankly, you should not make a big bet on this match. If you do decide to bet, however, the fact that Li made the Round of 16 in Madrid, and that Samsonova is just 2-2 in her last four matches, should make you question why Samsonova is a clear-cut favorite. Go with Li on the moneyline and get a great price.

That being said, betting on Li winning is a value bet for sure.
