Ines de Ramon Brings Back an Iconic Piece of Fashion History in John Galliano Dior Newspaper Dress at the US Open 2026 with Brad Pitt

The US Open is in full swing, with celebrities galore dotting the stands. Among the many celebrities in attendance, Ines de Ramon and her boyfriend Bad Pitt seemingly stole the show. The pair attended the US Open Women's Finals on Sept. 12 in New York, cozied up in the Emirates Suite. Ariana DeBose, Jessica Alba, and Paris Hilton were also in attendance at the tennis event.

De Ramon attended the sports event in an iconic piece of fashion history, hailing from the mind of John Galliano for Dior. Although many versions of the dress were created, de Ramon's archival item was form-fitted and features spaghetti straps and a sweetheart bodice. Known as the newspaper dress, the garment appeared during Dior's fall 2000 runway show. The garment was crafted from a newspaper-printed lightweight fabric that featured actual press clippings from the International Herald Tribune.

The print was aptly titled "The Christian Dior Daily," and while it was revolutionized by Galliano, he'd taken inspiration from fellow designer Elsa Schiaparelli to do it. Schiaparelli printed her own press clippings onto a 1935 dress. These clippings were mainly about her work. In her autobiography "Shocking Life," the designer recalled using the fabric for "blouses, scarves, hats, and all kinds of bathing nonsense."

Since its debut, the newspaper dress has been featured in "Sex and the City," gaining icon status when it was worn by the show's main character, Carrie Bradshaw, in season three, episode 17, titled "What Goes Around Comes Around." Her version featured a cowl neckline. Most recently, actress Jenna Ortega wore the famed dress for the premiere of her 2025 film "Hurry Up Tomorrow." Her version was much more true to the dress seen on Bradshaw, with gold hardware straps and a slinky construction.

De Ramon's is a much more modernized take on the iconic dress, but it is instantly recognizable despite its updated features. The garment still has that Galliano touch of grunge, with the subtle silver hardware trim that can be seen on the bodice. Accompanying her printed dress, the jewelry designer toted a slate gray handbag with silver hardware, paired with a wristwatch and thin 90s-esuqe black sunglasses.

Pitt opted for a more sporty look, clad in a blue denim baseball cap worn backwards partnered with a light blue polo shirt and light-wash jeans in a baggy style. The "F1" star also sported aviator sunglasses with thin silver frames and tinted lenses.
