NSW’s Grassroots Elite Set to Shine at 2025 Champion of Champions Finals

Football NSW is gearing up for one of its biggest events of the year as the 55th Champion of Champions Finals take centre stage this Sunday, October 19, at Valentine Sports Park.

A total of 18 blockbuster matches will be played across three fields in a single action-packed day, as 36 of the state’s top grassroots teams battle for the coveted title of “Champion” in their respective age groups.

This long-running knockout tournament, renowned for celebrating community football at its best, saw over 300 teams and 5,000 players from across NSW compete in the lead-up to the Finals. Now, the last teams standing will clash in a high-stakes finale that has become a hallmark event in the grassroots football calendar.

Associations Well-Represented, with MWFA Leading the Way

A bumper crowd is expected from all corners of the state, with the Manly Warringah Football Association (MWFA) boasting the strongest Finals presence, fielding six teams. Other top-performing associations include Eastern Suburbs FA (ESFA), Northern Suburbs FA (NSFA) and Sutherland Shire FA (SSFA), each proudly sending five teams to the grand stage.

Clubs from 14 different Associations will be represented, including Football St George, Hills FA, Nepean FA, North West Sydney FA, Southern Districts FA, Blacktown DSFA, Central Coast Football, Football Canterbury, Football South Coast and Macarthur FA – highlighting the depth of talent and dedication across NSW’s grassroots football landscape.

Lindfield FC Leads the Club Honour Roll

A standout this year is Lindfield FC (NSFA), who will have an incredible four teams vying for titles on Sunday – a feat rarely achieved in the tournament’s history. Other clubs with multiple finalists include Belrose-Terrey Hills Raiders and Wakehurst FC (MWFA), Sporting Rovers (SDSFA), Lilli Pilli (SSFA) and Kirrawee Kangaroos FC (SSFA) – each with two squads flying their colours.

The Finals will also see several exciting rematches from past Champion of Champions tournaments and State Cup showdowns. Notable among these is the All Age Women’s Final, a replay of last year’s thriller between Lindfield FC and Coogee United, where the latter won 2-1. Other reigning champions such as Collaroy Cromer Strikers (21 Men) and APIA Leichhardt Tigers (Over 35s) will look to defend their titles in back-to-back appearances.

In the 15 Boys category, another high-stakes rematch awaits as last year’s Champion of Champions winners Belrose-Terrey Hills Raiders go up against Ryde Panthers, this year’s State Cup Champions.

Excitement Building for One Huge Day of Football

All matches will be played on one massive day of football. Football NSW’s Competition Coordinator, Kim Burge, who has been instrumental in the tournament’s success over the years, expressed her excitement on Sunday’s big day for Association football.

“The Champion of Champions Finals is the pinnacle of community football in NSW, and we’re thrilled to bring all 18 matches together in one spectacular day. It’s a true celebration of grassroots excellence and passion. We can’t wait to see families, fans and communities come together to support their teams and enjoy everything this unique event has to offer.”

Watch the Action Live

For those unable to attend in person, every match will be streamed live and exclusively on Football NSW’s official YouTube channel, ensuring fans can follow the drama and delight from anywhere.
