Harbhajan Slams Ex-IPL Chief For Releasing Video Of Him Slapping Sreesanth

Following the conclusion of the KXIP-MI IPL match on April 25, 2008, in Mohali, Harbhajan lost his cool and slapped Sreesanth during the post-match player's handshake.

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has slammed former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi after he released a 17-year-old video of him slapping S Sreesanth. In 2008, during the post-match player’s handshake, following the conclusion of the Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) and Mumbai Indians IPL match in Mohali on April 25, Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth after losing his cool.

The clip of the slapgate incident wasn’t released by the broadcasters for more than 17 years, but during his recent appearance on a YouTube channel, Modi released the video.

His act was criticised by Sreesanth’s wife last week, and now Harbhajan has also joined the bandwagon. He accused Modi of having a selfish motive behind making the video public.

“The way the video has been leaked, it’s wrong. It shouldn’t have happened. They might have a selfish motive behind it. Something that happened 18 years ago, people have forgotten, and they are reminding people about it," Harbhajan said while speaking to Instant Bollywood.

“I feel bad for whatever happened. We were playing, and everyone had things going on in their mind. Mistakes happened, and we do feel ashamed about it," he added.

Harbhajan, who was banned for 11 matches by the IPL governing council for his act in 2008, once again apologised and said that he made a mistake.

“Yes, the video has gone viral. It was an unfortunate incident, and I have said on many occasions that I made a mistake. Humans make mistakes, and I did one too. I have requested Lord Ganesh to forgive me if I make a mistake again. Mistakes happen."
