Rasmus Hojlund was left out of Manchester United’s squad to face Arsenal on Sunday ahead of a potential Old Trafford exit.AC Milan have stepped up their efforts to sign Rasmus Hojlund as they are aware other options are emerging for the Manchester United striker, TBR Football understands. The Dane was unceremoniously left out of United’s matchday squad for their opening weekend loss against Arsenal.Mason Mount actually started the game before being replaced by new star signing Benjamin Sesko, while Joshua Zirkzee was also named on the bench, highlighting just how far from Ruben Amorim’s thinking Hojlund is.Over the weekend, AC Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare confirmed their interest in Hojlund as well as Dusan Vlahovic, which we revealed earlier this month.“Hojlund is a good option for us,” said Tare, as quoted by ESPN.“We are thinking about him, but in the transfer market, you never know what could happen,” he added.Photo by Patrick McDermott/Getty ImagesAC Milan favourites to sign Rasmus HojlundHowever, TBR Football can reveal that Juventus, Napoli, former club Atalanta and Fulham have all had some conversations over signing Hojlund.Juventus are looking as they may move on from Dusan Vlahovic, while Napoli are back on his trail as they have concerns over a recent injury scare with Romelu Lukaku. We can also confirm that Hojlund’s former club Atalanta have made enquiries, should they fail to land Rodrigo Muniz – but they are hopeful of signing Fulham’s Brazilian.Indeed, Fulham have spoken to intermediaries as they look for possible replacements for Muniz. However, their interest in Hojlund has not gone as far as talks at this stage.Sources have told TBR Football that AC Milan are very much favourites at this point and further talks took place on Monday as they look to seal a loan deal with an option.“I am told that Max Allgeri has spoken to the player, and if that is the case, he is a hugely impressive figure, and when he wants you, it is hard to turn down,” said TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.“Milan are working hard on this now, and they are making it clear to him that he can resurrect his career at the San Siro,” he added.Rasmus Hojlund’s record in ItalyHojlund previously spent one year in Serie A, joining Atalanta from Sturm Graz back in August 2022.The former Copenhagen talent scored nine times in 32 Serie A games for La Dea, leading to his United switch in 2023.Hojlund started well at United, scoring 10 goals in his first Premier League campaign, before bagging just four goals last season.Serie A clubs are now interested in signing Hojlund, with a return to Italy potentially in the pipeline for the 22-year-old.
