Chelsea have opened talks with Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho over a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Our colleagues at football.london understand the forward has entered talks with his ambition being to remain in the Premier League. Garnacho's time at Old Trafford was on borrowed time after the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Garnacho expressed his disappointment at not playing a greater role in the fixture during a post-match interview. Earlier in the day, he had posted a picture of himself celebrating his goal during his last cup final against Manchester City under Erik ten Hag.

MEN Sport reported at the time that Ruben Amorim had informed Garnacho that he should seek a move away from the club this summer. Following the summer break, Garnacho told United that he wished to leave, along with four of his other teammates.

The Argentine was granted an extended summer break to aid his search for a new club but he would soon return to Carrington to undertake an individual training programme. Garnacho did not feature in the summer tour of the US and it now seems like progress is being made to end his time at the club.

It has previously been reported that Chelsea are unwilling to spend more than £30m on Garnacho in the summer transfer window which is less than what Napoli bid for him in January. That offer was thought to be closer to the £40m region.

All this comes as United appear to be closing in on a new addition to their squad. RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko has been pictured on a private jet believed to be headed for Manchester.

The Reds managed to fend off competition from Newcastle to seemingly bring the centre-forward to Old Trafford.
