KEY HIGHLIGHTS Hardik Pandya led MI to a 100-run vs RR

MI have won six games in a row

MI ended a long wait to beat RR at Jaipur

Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) continued their golden run in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 100 runs on Thursday (April 27) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The result means that MI have dethroned Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are now the table toppers and strong favourites not just for a playoff spot but also to secure a vital top two finish.

This is MI's sixth win in a row as they continue a remarkable turnaround after losing four of the five games of the season. The five-time champions now have seven victories (14 points) in 11 matches, with three games still left in the playoff races

This marks the second time in history that MI have won six games in a row in a season. The previous instance came in the inaugural season in 2008, where the Mumbai-based outfit similarly turned around their season after losing the first four games in the season.

However, Hardik is the first MI captain to achieve the feat, as the previous streak came under two captains. Shaun Pollock led the team in the first three games before Sachin Tendulkar returned from injury.

The 2008 season was the only time in history that MI have won five or more games in a season and not reached the final.

Most Consecutive Wins BY MI In IPL History

Matches Won Year Captain Finishing Spot 6 2008 Shaun Pollock/Sachin Tendulkar 5th 5 2010 Sachin Tendulkar Runners-up 5 2013 Rohit Sharma Champions 5 2020 Rohit Sharma Champins 6 2025 Hardik Pandya TBD

Overall, MI's six-match winning run is the joint eighth-best in IPL history. Only KKR (9 wins in a row in 2014), RCB (7 wins in a row in 2011 under Daniel Vettori), and CSK (7 wins in a row in 2013) have won more consecutive games in a season. With MI's run still active, they have the chance to upstage the record.

Mumbai End Jaipur Jinx

This victory also marked the first instance of MI beating RR in Jaipur since 2012. Quite incredibly, through Rohit's glorious decade-long stint as the skipper of the Men in Blue and Gold, they never won at the venue. However, there were only four matches in this period that MI played at the venue against the hosts, including one in the Champions League T20 (CLT20). Last year, MI also lost to RR away from home under Hardik's leadership. During Rohit's leadership tenure, MI defeated the South African team Lions in the 2013 CL T20.

Earlier, MI defeated RR at the venue only in 2010 and 2012 under Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh 's captaincy.

As a captain, Hardik has now won 33 games, which is the joint most after 55 matches alongside Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. The star all-rounder's win percentage as captain has now hit 60%. He is the only player to lead in more than 50 games to hit that mark.

Talking about the match, MI's put up a total of 217 while losing just two wickets with half-centuries from Ryan Rickelton (61) and Rohit Sharma (53) while Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten with knocks of 48 each.

This marked only the fourth instance of four players from a team scoring more than 40 runs in an IPL innings. Had Hardik and Suryakumar got their half-centuries, it would have marked the first instance of four 50+ scores in the same innings in the league's history.

RR were bowled out for 117, which meant that MI continued their incredible record of never losing a match after scoring a total of 200+.

The victory is the third time in IPL history, MI have won a match by 100 runs or more. Only RCB (4) have more wins by a three-digit margin.
