STEVEN GERRARD IS interested in making a sensational return to the Rangers hot seat, one Scottish footie pundit has claimed. But he reckons the notion of Gerrard coming back to Glasgow, almost exactly four years on from his departure to Aston Villa, is ‘COMPLEX’.That man is Darrell Currie, who made the claim on Premier Sports’ Scottish Football Social Club show. It’s thought Gerrard was spoken to prior to the appointment of Russell Martin only a few months ago – and was in no hurry to come back. And Currie has outlined a couple of potential sticking points again – namely, the possible tax implications for the former Liverpool and England legend leaving the Middle East – and whether he feels the blend would be correct working with the club’s new hierarchy. On the plus side, while the Ibrox squad is a work in progress, he would have the chance to throw his lot in with owners who seem likely to loosen the purse strings more than during his previous stint as manager. He said: “I know for a fact that Gerrard is interested in returning to Rangers.“I think the two questions are now, apparently, it’s complex. We know there are some tax issues.“I think they would be making sure the family would be happy with this as well. He’s had a massive change in his life where they’re living at the moment. But he would be interested in a return. I know that for absolute sure.“I do wonder, knowing what I’ve just said, would Gerrard be willing to walk back into the football club?“He would be excited by the ownership and the potential to maybe spend more money long-term than the first time around.“Would he be willing to work with the current people in the board? That’s what I don’t know.”Gerrard’s No 2 Gary McAllister refused to rule out a return to the club for the coaching team when approached yesterday. He told Sky Sports News: “That’s a big question that.“But you never say never, do you?“We had a wonderful time there, we really enjoyed our time there and Steven did an amazing job to get that 55th title.“There have been three or four managerial changes since then and Steven is always going to be linked with Glasgow Rangers because he loved his time up there.”
