Matt Henry's 11-wicket match haul powers New Zealand to 253-run win ever England

It took Matt Henry exactly 31 deliveries on the fifth morning to claim the remaining five England wickets, register the best match figures of his Test career, and seal New Zealand's commanding series-levelling victory by 253 runs in the second Test at The Oval.

The collapse began with the prized scalp of Joe Root. Henry, who had troubled the stand-in skipper throughout the match, produced another delivery that jagged back from a good length and trapped him lbw for the second time in the game. Root's dismissal for 77 effectively ended England's hopes of chasing down the daunting target.

A couple of balls later, Jofra Archer had his stumps rattled by a delivery that kept low, not an unfamiliar sight on a wearing fifth-day surface.

The fast bowler followed up his double-wicket maiden with another double-wicket maiden. Matthew Fisher chopped on to his stumps while Josh Tongue, expecting another ball to angle in, edged one that held its line to first slip. The wicket also completed Henry's maiden ten-wicket match haul in Test cricket.

Fittingly, it was Henry who took the final wicket. Jordan Cox attempted to sweep but was beaten by a yorker that crashed into the base of the stumps as England were bowled out for 209 in 58.1 overs. Henry claimed 5 for 3 in the short morning session and finished with career-best match figures of 11 for 109.
