TEAMS PREVIEW

Gujarat Titans Preview

The Gujarat Titans display a commendable performance during the league phase of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, finishing 2nd. Throughout the campaign, the Shubman Gill led side won 9 matches and lost 5 games. With the final match at home, the Titans have a heavy task in hand to go through the Qualifier 2 after in Q1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

It was a pretty lackluster outing in the Qualifier 1 for Gujarat Titans vs RCB in Himachal Pradesh. They conceded 254 runs bowling first with all of the GT bowlers conceding runs at over 9 economy rate. Then with the bat, the top-order, which is GT’s biggest strength, crumbled early and despite a valiant effort from Rahul Tewatia, who scored 68 runs off 43 balls, Gujarat Titans lost the match by a whopping 92 runs.

Thanks to finishing in top 2 in league phase, GT will have another shot at the IPL 2026 Final to be played in Ahmedabad later this month. For this, the Titans will win this qualifier 2 to book another clash against RCB.

The Gujarat Titans cannot afford another top-order collapse, which is one of their major winning-mantra this season, especially its top three trio of captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan and Jos Buttler.

Sai Sudarshan had a slow start to the IPL 2026 season. But he has been unreally consistent for the 2nd half of the season, amassing 652 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 157.87 and average of 46.57. In the last 6 innings, he has 5 half-centuries. His best performance this season is 100 off 58 balls vs RCB.

Sai alongside captain Shubman Gill have been responsible for giving a tremendous start to the Titans. The skipper himself has scored 618 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 159.28. He has had several solid performances throughout the season, scoring in 80s thrice including his highest score 86 runs off 50 balls vs his former team Kolkata Knight Riders.

At number three, Jos Buttler carries on the momentum set by the two. The former England T20I skipper and wicketkeeper-batter has contributed with 498 runs in 15 innings, strike rate again in the 159 region. Buttler is known for playing the situation of the game. He is comfortable playing the anchors but also can attack from ball one.

Gujarat Titans have a top heavy batting, but thereafter, it's a big disappointment. All-rounder Washington Sundar is the fourth best batter with 311 runs in 14 innings, and has been used as a floater in various positions according to the situation. Rahul Tewatia, after his brilliant knock of 68 runs vs RCB in Q1, is the only other batter to have crossed 100 runs mark. The left-hander has scored 166 runs in 13 innings.

But it is the Gujarat Titans’ bowling that could have a major say in deciding the outcome of the match. They have an excellent pace bowling trio in the form of Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. The South African speedster is the top wicket-taker for the team with 26 wickets. He has been able to change the course of the match with lethal pace bowling, he has five 3 wicket-hauls in IPL 2026 season.

Then the duo of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna compliment him well. The India international duo have taken 32 wickets combined. Siraj has bagged 17 wickets while Prasidh Krishna has 15 wickets in 10 games. Both add different dimensions and variety to the gameplay.

34-year-old veteran Jason Holder has been able to make a tremendous impact. Despite initially being picked as a squad player, he has managed to contribute with 15 wickets in 9 matches. In-fact, he was the best GT bowler in their qualifier 1 loss vs RCB.

Afghanistan international spin bowler Rashid Khan had a pretty lackluster IPL 2025 season. But he has bounced back really well with 19 wickets in 15 matches this season. The highlights of his performance this season includes 3/17 vs DC, 4/33 vs RR and 3/18 vs CSK.

Gujarat Titans Predicted Playing XI:

Sai Sudarshan, Shubman Gill (C), Jos Buttler (WK), Nishant Sindhu, Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kulwant Khejroliya. Impact Player: Rahul Tewatia.

Wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel has fully taken advantage of the promotion in the batting order for IPL 2026. The India international has scored 508 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 155.35. He played some knocks earlier in the season, and despite a lean patch in the middle, he is once again delivering some seriously consistent performance.

Captain Riyan Parag had a poor start to the campaign but the Assamese batter has upped the ante in the recent, taking his runs tally to 297 runs in 13 innings. Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja have also contributed 279 and 220 runs to strengthen the lower-order.

Jofra Archer is the best bowler for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 campaign. The Barbados born English right-arm pacer is known for his ability to bowl in all phases of the game, taking 24 wickets so far this season. He has got quite the knack for taking early wickets sets the momentum in RR’s favour.

He has found some great support from the likes of Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma. The duo have taken 13 wickets each. Meanwhile, they have a very good spin bowling attack that includes the likes of Ravi Bishnoi, Ravindra Jadeja and Yash Raj Punja.

Ravi Bishnoi, playing for his local team, has taken 11 while Ravindra Jadeja making a return to the Royals after more than a decade, has taken 10 wickets. Debutant Yash Raj Punja has also surprised many with his fantastic bowling, taking 9 wickets in 7 matches. RR have bases covered well in terms of pace bowling and spin bowling.

Rajasthan Royals Predicted Playing XI:

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Riyan Parag (C), Donovan Ferreira, Dasun Shanaka, Ravindra Jadeja, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Brijesh Sharma, Yash Raj Punja. Impact Player: Ravi Bishnoi.

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather Conditions

On Friday, May 29 in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh), expect a hot and mostly sunny day for this qualifier 2 clash. The temperature is likely to touch highs around 38-40°C and lows near 28°C. Skies will be partly cloudy during the day with a low chance of isolated showers, but expect clear skies for the game. Light winds expected at 12 kmph. We should see an uninterrupted game.

GT vs RR Pitch Report

The pitch at Mullanpur is expected to be balanced with good pace and bounce. It usually carries a bit of grass, giving pacers early seam movement and extra carry in the powerplay. Once the ball gets older, the surface settles nicely and becomes batsman-friendly, allowing stroke-makers to play freely. Spinners will get some grip in the middle overs, but won't be really impactful. The average first inning score at the venue in IPL 2026 is a staggering 214. Expect a high scoring game.

Toss: To Bowl

The captain who wins the toss, would most likely opt to bowl first. This is a high stakes match-up with a place in the Final match on the line. Any team would prefer to bowl first and have a target on the board to chase than setting the target themselves.
