Bec and Lleyton Hewitt commit to $14 million move as family changes focus for tennis son Cruz

Bec and Lleyton Hewitt have recommitted to selling their family home in Sydney as the ever-increasing demands of their children's careers take priority. The Hewitts first listed their six-bedroom home in Glenhaven - in Sydney's north-west - back in June, hoping to fetch $14 million for it.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Monday that they briefly 'de-listed' the property and took it off the market while they were away on the European tennis circuit with son Cruz. But the luxurious home is now back on the market as the Hewitts look to move on to the next chapter of their lives.

The 17-year-old Cruz has shifted full-time to the senior men's circuit after making the Wimbledon junior final in July. This week he's playing the Phan Thiết Challenger tournament in Vietnam, winning his first-round match against Constantin Bittoun Kouzmine in straight sets.

Bec and Lleyton's daughters Mia and Ava are carving out careers of their own in fashion, singing and acting, and the family simply doesn't spend enough time at their Glenhaven home anymore. Lleyton has been spending months at a time overseas with Cruz this year as he helps coach and mentor his teenage son.

Bec has mostly remained in Australia to help Mia and Ava, however the family is reportedly considering setting up a home base in Florida or the Bahamas to reduce their travel. In 2009 when Lleyton was still playing he based the family in Nassau to cut down on long flights while the kids were little.

Hewitt family shift focus for kids' careers

Last year the Hewitts sold a property on the Gold Coast for $4.9 million and stand to make a tidy profit of $3.7m on the Glenhaven home. They initially bought on the Gold Coast to be closer to Cruz's training program at KDV Tennis Academy.

Speaking last year, Lleyton gave an insight into how the gruelling demands of his career - and now Cruz's - has impacted the family. "Bec's travelled the world with us and it's a grind, and especially with three young kids, we've had to move base and set up overseas. And she's done everything with grace and elegance," Lleyton said when inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.

"You've been the rock the whole time supporting me, and I certainly wouldn't have been able to continue my career and be able to play 20 Australian Opens without you. So I'm eternally grateful and I love you so much. Thank you."
