England are through to this weekend’s Women's T20 World Cup final.

They beat South Africa by 40 runs at The Oval in London.

England will now face six-time champions Australia at Lord's Cricket Ground on Sunday afternoon.

But it won't be easy for the hosts.

Australia are the most successful team in the history of the competition, while England will be hoping to lift the trophy for the first time since 2009.

England got off to a nervy start, losing three wickets to leave them 23-3 after four overs.

However, a superb partnership between captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight helped England recover, with both players scoring half-centuries as they reached 169-5.

England then bowled brilliantly, taking regular wickets to keep South Africa under pressure, as they were restricted to 129-8, sealing a 40-run win.

The result helped England book their place in Sunday's final against Australia for the first time since 2018.

Australia made it through to the final of the Women's T20 World Cup following a comfortable win over West Indies at The Oval on Tuesday.

Australia are chasing their seventh world title, having previously lifted the trophy in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2023.

England will be attempting to claim their second Women's T20 World Cup title after they won the first ever edition - which also took place at Lord's - back in 2009.

It is the first time since 2010 that both teams in the final have claimed their spot with an unbeaten record in the tournament.

This year's women's T20 World Cup final takes place on Sunday 5 July at Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
