Kazakhstan makes history with first-ever World Table Tennis Championships quarterfinal appearance

In Round of 32, Kazakhstan faced Spain and secured a 3-1 victory in a strong team performance.

Alan Kurmangaliev opened the match with a 3-1 win over Álvaro Robles, giving Kazakhstan an early lead.

Kirill Gerassimenko extended the advantage by defeating Juan Perez, also 3-1.

Spain briefly fought back when Daniel Berzosa beat Aidos Kenzhigulov, reducing the gap.

However, Kirill Gerassimenko sealed the overall victory with a dominant 3-0 win over Álvaro Robles, confirming Kazakhstan’s 3-1 series win.

With this result, Kazakhstan progresses to Round of 16, where they will face the winner of the Japan vs Belgium match.

This marks the first time in history that Kazakhstan’s men’s team has reached Round of 16 at a world championship in table tennis.
