RCB vs LSG Match Prediction & Analysis

Match 23 of IPL 2026 sets up a good contest between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB have made a strong start, winning three of their four matches, which puts them third on the table with six points so far. LSG have not been as steady, picking up two wins and losing two, leaving them placed sixth at this stage. TEAMS PREVIEW

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Preview

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have begun their campaign on a strong note, winning three of their first four matches to sit fourth on the table. Their only setback came against Rajasthan Royals, where they lost by six wickets in their third game, but they bounced back well with an 18-run win over Mumbai Indians in their last outing. In that match, RCB posted 240-4 at the Wankhede and then held MI to 222. They have now posted 200+ scores in each of their four fixtures this season.

This has been the pattern for RCB this season. When batting first, they have gone big and pushed totals out of reach, and when chasing, their batting strength has helped them get to targets comfortably without too much pressure.

Their main players have contributed well so far. Virat Kohli has scored 179 runs in four matches, while Devdutt Padikkal has made 125 in three games. Padikkal has looked in great touch, with two fifties and a strike rate of 202. The top order looks dependable, with Phil Salt also finding form in the last game, where he scored 78 off 36 balls.

Captain Rajat Patidar has also done well in the middle overs, scoring 195 runs at a strike rate of 214 and helping the team get to big scores. Tim David and Romario Shepherd provide more hitting options in the lower middle order. David has been in very good form, striking at 222 and hitting 12 sixes this season. Shepherd has also done well, striking close to 175 since 2025. Both can score quickly towards the end, especially on a ground like this, where boundaries are not hard to find.

Jacob Duffy and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have given RCB good starts with the ball, picking up 10 wickets between them and striking early. Their contest against Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram could play a big role in how the game unfolds. Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya will also be used in the middle overs against Mumbai’s middle order. Pandya has been in good form this season, taking five wickets while going at nine runs per over.

Key Players: Rajat Patidar, Tim David, Jacob Duffy

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Predicted Playing XI:

Philip Salt, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar(c), Tim David, Jitesh Sharma(w), Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jacob Duffy, Suyash Sharma Impact Subs: Rasikh Salam Dar, Venkatesh Iyer, Jacob Bethell

Lucknow Super Giants Preview

After back-to-back wins over SRH and KKR, Lucknow Super Giants looked to have settled into the season well. That progress was checked in their last outing, where Gujarat Titans beat them by six wickets at home, pushing them down to sixth place with a poor NRR of -0.427.

Batting first on a good pitch at Ekana, LSG managed only 164-8, which was never going to be enough. Gujarat chased the target comfortably in 18.4 overs. The result pointed out a few issues, especially in the batting. None of their main batters have really stepped up so far, and the rest of the lineup has also struggled to contribute.

Aiden Markram has been their most reliable batter this season, scoring 108 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 152. He looks set for another 30-plus score at a strike rate above 140.

Nicholas Pooran’s form is a major concern. He was their best batter over the last two seasons, but has managed only 41 runs in four matches this year with a strike rate of 85.41. However, he will take confidence from his terrific record at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium: 148 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 217.64.

Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh have also not helped matters. Apart from that unbeaten 68 against SRH, Pant has not looked comfortable at the crease, while Marsh now has three scores below 20 in a row.

With Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad also failing to make an impact, LSG have plenty to sort out if they want to compete against a side like RCB. One positive was Mukul Choudhary’s knock against KKR, where he scored 54 not out from 27 balls to pull off a remarkable win. They will hope he can deliver again on a good batting surface.

In bowling, Prince Yadav has been their main wicket-taker with six wickets in four matches at an economy of 8.80. Mohammed Shami has also done well, picking up four wickets while going at just 6.25 per over. Digvesh Singh Rathi and Avesh Khan have chipped in with three wickets each. Digvesh can keep things tight, and his contest against Rajat Patidar and Tim David could be very important.

Key Players: Aiden Markram, Digvesh Singh, Mitchell Marsh

Lucknow Super Giants Predicted Playing XI:

Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad, Mukul Choudhary, Mohammed Shami, Avesh Khan, Digvesh Singh Impact Subs – Prince Yadav, George Linde, Matthew Breetzke

PITCH AND WEATHER CONDITIONS

Weather Conditions

The weather in Bengaluru should be clear to partly cloudy on match day, with rain not looking like a problem, and pleasant evening weather anticipated. The temperature will probably fall to the mid-20s (°C) when the game starts, with gentle winds around, meaning playing conditions should stay mostly unaffected.

RCB vs LSG Pitch Report

In the two matches played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2026, each of the four innings has gone past the 200 mark, with the highest total being RCB’s 250-3 against CSK. The pitch is expected to stay good for batting across the full game. Pacers can find some bounce and carry at the start, especially during the powerplay, which gives them a chance to get early wickets, while spinners usually become more involved in the middle overs. Overall, this looks like a batting-friendly surface that could get even better in the second innings due to dew. There should be plenty of fours and sixes on offer.

If RCB bat first, they can look at a total between 210 and 225. LSG, who have not been very consistent and depend heavily on their top order, might be aiming for a first innings score around 190 to 200.
