Fans thronged the Ekana Stadium expecting a Virat Kohli classic as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) hosted the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Thursday night. However, the anticipation quickly turned into disappointment as the star batter was bowled for a duck by a stunning delivery from Prince Yadav.

It was the second over of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s chase of 214 when Prince Yadav produced a peach of a delivery — a sharp inswinger at 140.4 kph — that breached Virat Kohli’s defence and rattled the off stump. After setting up the ace batter with an outswinger, the young pacer got one to seam back in, producing one of the most beautiful dismissals of the season.

Mitchell Marsh smashed a blistering 111 off 56 balls as Lucknow Super Giants posted 209 for 3 in a rain-hit 19-overs-a-side clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday. Multiple interruptions, totalling nearly an hour, but Marsh ensured LSG maintained momentum. He stitched a 95-run opening stand with Arshin Kulkarni (17) and added 70 more with Nicholas Pooran (38).

Marsh was ruthless, smashing nine fours and nine sixes, and brought up his fastest IPL fifty in just 20 balls. He dominated the RCB attack, particularly Josh Hazlewood.

A rain break briefly halted LSG at 95/0, but Marsh resumed in the same vein, reaching his century before another interruption. Dropped on 110 by Devdutt Padikkal, he fell soon after.
