Jason Sangha century, dismissal by Kurtis Patterson; NSW vs South Australia

South Australia's Jason Sangha has reminded NSW what he's capable of, scoring his eighth first class century before he was dismissed by the "awful bowling" of Kurtis Patterson.

Sangha started his career at the Blues but left in 2024 to reignite his career. He finished that season with 704 runs at 78.22 and hit a century in the Sheffield Shield final win.

Coming into South Australia's clash with NSW, Sangha averaged over 100 at Karen Rolton Oval and continued that trend on day two.

South Australia started the day 1-20 after bowling out NSW for 269.

Sangha came in at 3-36 after Travis Head (5) was dismissed on day one before Nathan McAndrew (9) and Nathan McSweeney (12) joined him the next day.

Sangha and Henry Hunt (43) combined for a 108-run partnership before the latter was bowled by Liam Hatcher.

Alex Carey joined the innings and was at the non-striker's end when Sangha reached his century.

The Aussie wicket-keeper was gone two overs later when he tried to sweep Joel Davies but only managed to find Hatcher at fine-leg.

Sangha pushed along to 115 before he was dismissed in an awful moment.

NSW captain Kurtis Patterson had brought himself on and with his second ball bowled a half-tracker that was hit for a boundary.

"This is pretty awful bowling," Jason Gillespie said on commentary for cricket.com.au.

But then Patterson bowled another shocker, a full toss down the legside which Sangha hit to Charlie Stobo at deep fine leg.

"I think this is the worst delivery I've ever seen to get a wicket ... that should have been hit into 2027," Gillespie said.

The wicket was Patterson's first in Sheffield Shield.

TASSIE SKITTLED

While it was runs for South Australia, Tasmania was on the other end of the spectrum against Victoria.

On day two at Bellerive Oval, Jordan Silk's side was dismantled for 91 after Victoria had posted 222.

The score was Tasmania's fourth-lowest home total in Sheffield Shield history with Matt Kuhnemann top-scoring on 23. Beau Webster was bowled for 5 in the innings, chopping on from Fergus O'Neill.

O'Neill (3-17) and Sam Elliott (3-22) were the pick of the bowlers for Victoria.
