NEC Nijmegen to take advantage of former Ajax strikers failed move to Cyprus

According to Soccernews.nl, Kaj Sierhuis will not be moving to Cyprus. The move of the former Fortuna Sittard striker to a Cypriot side appears to have fallen through. As a result, NEC Nijmegen look primed to take advantage of the failed transfer by giving Sierhuis a change to remain in the Eredivisie. Sierhuis had a good season for Fortuna Sittard last season but decided to leave at the end of his contract.

The former Ajax man has also been linked with a move to Greek side Iraklis 1908, but it looks like remaining in the Netherlands with NEC Nijmegen is a preferred option for the forward. NEC Nijmegen can offer Sierhuis European football as well following a fantastic Eredivisie season from the side.

Sierhuis began his career with Ajax but only made three appearances before leaving to join French side Reims. After just two goals in 47 games, with a loan spell in between with Heracles, the former Ajax striker joined Fortuna Sittard in 2023. Since then he has scored 29 goals in 78 games, with 13 of these coming last season.
