Cunha has been an impact substitute in Carrick’s first two games in charge but United are forced into a reshuffle in attack after losing Patrick Dorgu to a hamstring injury.

Carrick has different options but Cunha starts ahead of Mason Mount - who is not involved at all - on the left after his brilliant winner against Arsenal last weekend.

Kobbie Mainoo continues alongside Casemiro in midfield. Noussair Mazraoui was an option to come in for Diogo Dalot at right-back but the back four remains the same.

Harry Maguire partners Lisandro Martinez at centre-back, with Luke Shaw at left-back. Dorgu is set to miss around 10 weeks with the hamstring injury he suffered against Arsenal.

“We weren't sure whether it was a little bit of cramp or whether it was something a little bit more serious and at the moment it looks a little bit more on the serious note.

“That's disappointing for all of us really, and for Pat. He's in such a good place but unfortunately it is part of football and it's something we've got to work through and get him back as soon as we can.”

Joshua Zirkzee has returned to training this week and is on the bench, amid ongoing uncertainty over his future. Matthijs de Ligt is still not ready to return due to his back issue.
