Kwara United head coach, Suleiman Ashifat, has declared the Harmony Boys fully prepared for the new Nigeria Premier Football League season, insisting the club will hit the ground running, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Ashifat spoke to journalists after his side defeated Crown FC of Ogbomoso 2-0 in a Wednesday friendly staged for supporters to assess the team following their preseason tour.

“The league is here already, and we have no excuse not to declare our readiness for the season. Today’s friendly was organised for our fans to assess the team after three weeks on the road for preseason,” Ashifat said.

Kwara United recently returned from a preseason tournament in Kano, where they finished as runners-up after losing to Ranchers Bees in the final via a penalty shoot-out.

Ashifat said the win over Crown FC formed part of the club’s continued build-up to the new campaign, adding that other technical concerns would be addressed before the season opener.

He urged supporters to turn out in large numbers for the club’s opening fixture at home to Kano Pillars.

“We promised to give our best and secure maximum points for Kwara State. We need the twelfth man behind us,” he said.

Kwara United begin their league campaign against Kano Pillars at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
