Appearing on course to secure a move to Tottenham, there was to be a fresh transfer twist on Wednesday night as Arsenal made a late move for the England international, football.london understands. The Gunners have sprung into action following a Kai Havertz injury blow. That in turn now looks set to change Eze's final destination as Tottenham attempted to get a deal over the line for the 27-year-old.Amid Spurs' desire the wrap up the signing of the attacking ace, it did appear that Eze had in fact made his final outing for Palace in last Sunday's 0-0 draw at Chelsea as the player bid farewell to supporters following his late substitution and then at the full-time whistle. Speaking in his post-match press conference, head coach Oliver Glasner made it clear that he still expected Eze to be involved in Thursday's European match against their Norwegian opponents. The Austrian then went as far as saying that his main man would start against Fredrikstad when holding his pre-match press conference on Wednesday. "The player gives 100 per cent because he is under contract. We don't have to say thank you every day, he is getting a few pounds every week," he explained.“Many of you were surprised he and Marc [Guehi] started against Chelsea, most of you will be surprised that they will start again tomorrow, but they are committed to the team. They will play a crucial part as long as they are here they are committed to the team. If they leave, they want to leave as the guys who gave 100 per cent to Crystal Palace."The possibility of Eze playing for Palace in Europe has subsequently raised a question amongst Arsenal fans as to whether he will be eligible to feature in the Champions League this season or if he will be cup-tied as a result. The good news for the Gunners is that even if Eze plays for Crystal Palace on Thursday then it would not impact his participation in the Champions League league phase.UEFA.com states: "A player who has been fielded in the first, second or third qualifying round, or in the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League, is entitled to play in the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League for another club as from the league phase."Arsenal will discover their Champions League league phase opponents in one week's time following the conclusion of the play-off round. The draw takes place on Thursday, August 28 in Switzerland. The north London side will be paired with two teams from each of the four pots to determine their eight league phase fixtures. Dates and times for those eight games are likely to become clear a day or two after the draw.
