A Midlands football club has issued a statement after a video of an unseemly fight involving fans was widely shared on social media.

The video, seen by BirmighamLive, shows men shouting before they fall to the floor.

A woman is pushed to the ground as she tries to pull the men apart and is heard screaming with someone else shouting "Carol."

The player involved in the incident then seemingly helps her to her feet as they all stumble in the mud.

Children can be seen watching on as the adults swear and fall into a puddle on the sidelines.

It is not clear exactly what prompted the unrest, and Bilston Town FC has since issued a statement on X.

A spokesperson said just after 10.30pm last night (Saturday, February 7): "We understand that there is a video or videos shared by people from the game today.

"We would like to state that this is not a fair reflection of the game or day as a whole.

"As a club we are in the process of investigating all footage from today’s game. We would like to thank the supporters of@Droylsden_FC for their cooperation."

It is not clear if police were called to the incident.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating after a violent disorder at Bilston Town Football Club on Queen Street yesterday.

"We were called to reports of people being attacked at around 5pm.

"No arrests have yet been made.
