Alejandro Garnacho wasted no time making his feelings known after pulling on an Aston Villa shirt for the first time, and not everyone is convinced his words were aimed purely at the crowd in Indonesia.

The Argentine winger started for Villa on Saturday as they kicked off their pre-season tour of the Far East with a 3-1 win over Indonesia All Stars.

Goals from Emi Buendia, Ross Barkley and Brian Madjo sealed the result, with Garnacho deployed on the left flank before being substituted at half-time after 45 minutes.

Garnacho's Instagram Post Raises Eyebrows

The day after the match, Garnacho shared a photo from the game on his Instagram story and attached a message that quickly went viral.

"See you soon, Bangkok. First start after three months. Happy to be enjoying football again. One per cent every day. Thanks, Indonesia."

Many supporters read it as a thinly veiled dig at his parent club Chelsea, where he spent a frustrating season despite joining for £40 million from Manchester United.

Garnacho scored eight goals in 43 appearances at Stamford Bridge last season but found himself on the margins far too often, struggling to cement a regular starting berth under Enzo Maresca.
