The end of the road is near for Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin at N17

Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin arrived at N17 with high hopes after a successful stint at Genoa. The Romania international was signed as a potential cover for Cristian Romero in the heart of the defence, and the club viewed him as a potential successor of the Argentine defender in the long-term.

But it is fair to say that the transfer has not quite worked out for both the player and the North London club. The 23-year-old has failed to replicate the form he once showed during his time in the Serie A, and it looks like Spurs are running out of patience with the centre-back. The fans have also not seen the defender play regularly, as numerous injuries have held him back from starting consecutive games at N17.

Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin is facing an uncertain future at N17.

The Romania international was forced to sit on the side-lines for most parts of last season as well. The 23-year-old endured a long-term injury as he ruptured his ACL earlier this year. The injury has not him any favours as there are doubts at N17 that the ex-Genoa star would not reach his potential after recovering from it.

Radu Dragusin might head for a summer exit from Tottenham

It was reported earlier that Radu Dragusin was linked with a move to Inter Milan in the summer. The Serie A giants are keen to land the 23-year-old as they look to bounce back from a disastrous season. However, the transfer links did not last long as the Romanian’s agent shut down any possibilities of a summer move to Italy.

However, there is a new twist in the transfer saga involving the Spurs defender now. As per Graeme Bailey (via TBR Football), Tottenham are willing to sell the 23-year-old in the summer as they look to cash-in on underwhelming players. Bailey said,

“I think an interesting one at Tottenham to keep an eye on is Dragusin, because Danso is now well ahead of him in the pecking order. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see something with Dragusin this summer and a possible exit. I don’t think Spurs have been blown away by what he’s done since arriving at the club.”

The journalist added,

“There has also been a bit of agitating from the player, I think even in January he was agitating a little bit, and I guess this is what happens when you’re signing squad players. When you get someone like Dragusin arrive and he’s confident that he can get a first-team spot, but he ends up sitting on the bench, then you have an issue. I’m not sure Spurs would stand in his way.”

Graeme Bailey has suggested that Radu Dragusin has fallen down the pecking order at N17 and the defender has failed to impress the club since arriving from Genoa. The journalist then points out that Dragusin was expecting to be a starter at N17 and sitting on the bench has made him wanting to leave the club in the summer. Bailey has insisted that Spurs would not mind letting him leave if a suitable offer comes in.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 23-year-old at N17. With the arrival of Luka Vuskovic and Kota Takai in the summer, the Lilywhites can afford to let Dragusin go on a permanent deal. Daniel Levy is also looking to add another centre-back to the ranks for next season, and Koni De Winter is on the shortlist for a summer move.
