The ATP Montreal tournament moves from the Round of 96 into the Round of 64. The 1,000-point tournament marks one of the bigger transitions in the tennis calendar, sandwiched between Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. This year’s ATP Montreal event is missing Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic. Alexander Zverev is the top seed as a result of these notable absences. Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime is the No. 2 seed due to these adjustments in the field. So much of modern men’s tennis is hard to predict because of the vacuum created when the elite players aren’t playing or (as we saw at Roland-Garros) get knocked out of the draw. Let’s see what happens in Canada on Tuesday and throughout the rest of the tournament. LWOS has our best bets for three matches. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.ATP MontrealZachary Svajda – Denis Shapovalov: 13:00 ESTH2H: 0-0Denis Shapovalov comes home to Canada after making the final of the ATP Los Cabos tournament last week. Shapovalov lost the final to Arthur Gea. Bettors contemplating this ATP Montreal match will ask themselves if Shapo’s good week boosts his odds here, or if losing to Gea, a much lower-ranked player, hurts his profile. One conspicuous detail here is that Svajda is 16-7 on hardcourts this year while Shapovalov is 7-7 on hardcourts.Best Bet to MakeWelcome to our best bet section. You’re going to get a collection of bets to consider, also a confidence level which should guide how much you should invest in this match.Parlay/hedge options: Shapovalov +1.5 games at 1.55 at @unibetConfidence level on a scale of 1-10: 8 – You should bet a full unit on this match. We rarely assign a confidence level this high to a match, but we see a clear gap in quality on hardcourts between these two players, with Svajda having nine more wins and the same number of losses as Shapovalov. Add to this the fact that Svajda made the third round of Wimbledon while Shapovalov lost in the first round, and there’s a definite difference between these players in favor of Svajda. The American has to play quallies at a number of tournaments because of his lower ranking, but he has played well against good opponents when given the chance. Shapovalov might be tired after his full week of tennis in Mexico, too. We think it’s a good spot for Svajda, with a price which seems a little off and should be closer to a true toss-up.That being said, betting on Svajda moneyline is the best bet you can make.Value bet/ the best odds: Svajda moneyline at 2.20 @pinnacleJaume Munar – Alexander Blockx: 17:30 ESTH2H: 0-0This ATP Montreal match presents an eight-year age difference between the two players, with Alexander Blockx being the much younger player compared to Jaume Munar. When there is a noticeable age gap between players, the first thing to wonder about is if the older player has a clear advantage as a result of his experience. That doesn’t appear to be the case in this instance. Blockx is 11-5 on hardcourts this year, while Munar is 4-4. Blockx is also 16-7 on clay while Munar is 5-7 on clay. We mention clay, even though this is a hardcourt event, to show that Blockx has been comprehensively better on multiple surfaces this season.Best Bet to MakeParlay/hedge options: noneConfidence level on a scale of 1-10: 8 – you should bet a full unit on this match. It’s surprising enough to have one high-confidence ranking for a match. Now we have two, in addition to Svajda-Shapovalov (written above). Blockx is so clearly better than Munar, showing his superiority on multiple surfaces, that we have a lot of confidence about who will win here. Blockx moneyline makes a lot of sense, and it should make a lot of dollars (or Euros, or other currencies) as well. That being said, betting on Blockx moneyline is the best bet you can makeValue bet/ the best odds: Blockx moneyline @1.65 @bet-at-homeJuncheng Shang – Andrey Rublev: 15:00 ESTH2H: 0-2This ATP Montreal match pits Juncheng Shang, ranked outside the ATP top 250, against top-20 player Andrey Rublev. Shang has played just two matches since February, winning his first-round match in Canada. Rublev won the ATP Bastad title in Sweden and then made the quarterfinals in the ATP Estoril event the following week.Best Bet to MakeParlay/hedge options: noneConfidence level on a scale of 1-10: 6 – You should bet two thirds of a unit on this match.Andrey Rublev is not the most trustworthy tennis player in the world, but in this ATP Montreal match, he is facing a much weaker and lower-ranked opponent. Rublev should be able to get the job done in straight sets. It’s the bet which makes sense and offers a reasonable rate of return. That being said, betting on Rublev winning 2:0 is the best bet you can make.Value bet/ the best odds: Rublev winning 2:0 @1.91 @DraftKings
