Lorenzo Musetti and Novak Djokovic face off in the 2026 Australian Open quarter-finals on Wednesday 28 January.

In a rematch of their Paris 2024 semi-final, the No. 5 and No. 4 seeds respectively meet for a place in the final four of the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the new season.

This is already Musetti’s best result at Melbourne Park, with Italy's Olympic bronze medallist now vying to reach a third major semi-final in three years. In fact, a victory would also move the 23-year-old into the top three of the ATP rankings.

Djokovic is vying for a 13th appearance in the Australian Open final four in the ongoing pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam title. The reigning Olympic champion goes into the quarter-final fresh, receiving a walkover after his opponent Jakub Menšík pulled out with injury.

Australian Open 2026 quarter-final - Musetti vs Djokovic head-to-head record

The pair have met 10 times before, with Djokovic leading 9-1 in the head-to-head record. Ten-time Australian Open champion Djokovic has won all four meetings on hard courts, while Musetti’s only win was at the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters.

Their last meeting came at the tail end of the 2025 campaign, when Djokovic claimed victory in a three-hour thriller in the Athens ATP 250 final.

It was Djokovic’s 101st title claimed in his first appearance in the Greek capital, in a match where both men were vying for the last spot at the ATP Finals: Djokovic took it before withdrawing and handing the place to Musetti.

When they faced off at the Olympic Games, Djokovic prevailed 6-4, 6-2 on his way to the gold medal at Stade Roland-Garros. The 38-year-old goes into their quarter-final with a six-match winning streak against Musetti.
