Emma Raducanu has teamed up with a former coach of Rafael Nadal until at least the end of the 2025 season.Francisco Roig will join Raducanu’s setup ahead of the US Open, the final tennis Grand Slam of the year which starts on Sunday 24 August.Raducanu was seeking a new coach after Mark Petchey was unable to commit full-time to the role.The 2021 US Open winner impressed with Petchey in her corner this year, reaching the Miami Open and Queen’s quarter-finals before losing to world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the third round of Wimbledon in a hard-fought encounter.Having since reached the Citi Open semi-finals in Washington, D.C., Raducanu will begin work with Roig in Cincinnati this week.The Spanish coach was part of Nadal’s team, working alongside uncle Toni for most of the player’s career.After working with the 22-time Grand Slam winner and two-time Olympic champion, Roig then coached Matteo Berrettini for almost a year until October 2024.Roig has agreed a contract until the end of 2025 with Raducanu, who will also stay in contact with Petchey, The Guardian reports.The British number one is currently ranked 33rd in the world and hopes to be seeded for the US Open.
