When Carlos Alcaraz plans to arrive at Roland Garros after Italian Open final victory over Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz now has his sights set on the second Grand Slam of the year, as the Spaniard gets set to defend his Roland Garros title.

Alcaraz is in fine form this clay season, with two Masters 1000 titles clinched on the dirt in April and May.

The Spaniard won the Monte-Carlo Masters last month and emerged victorious in the Eternal City, where Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner to win his first Italian Open title.

With his triumph over the Italian, Alcaraz became the fifth youngest player in the Open Era to win ten or more ATP titles on clay.

Alcaraz is the reigning French Open champion, having won the title in the 2024 final against Alexander Zverev, and will look to be the first since Rafael Nadal in 2020 to successfully defend the crown in Paris.

Carlos Alcaraz’s plans for Roland Garros preparation ahead of title defence

As reported by Spanish outlet MARCA, Alcaraz and his team will travel to Paris on Wednesday, but the player won’t have his first training session until Thursday.

It will leave three days’ rest for the Rome champion, after playing the final on Sunday.

He will be present for the draw, in which he will be the second seed, after surpassing Zverev in the ATP rankings to become world number two.

Zverev, who lost in the quarter-final of the Italian Open, is playing at the Hamburg Open, where he is looking to defend points having made the final last year.

In the semi-final, he came up against world number one Sinner, who he was able to best in a five-set marathon.

Finally, Alcaraz defeated Zverev in another five-set match to hold the trophy aloft on court Philippe Chatrier.
