The LaLiga EA Sports season has only just begun and has already produced surprises. Among them is the shaky start of Atlético Madrid, who after three matches are still winless and sit in a worrying 15th place in the table, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid. However, far from showing concern, Diego Simeone has made it clear he has no intention of giving up on the title race. The summer transfer window was a busy one for the Colchoneros, who invested around €178 million to overhaul their squad. Despite that effort, the early results have been underwhelming: two draws and one defeat, sparking alarm among fans.In an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, the Argentine coach defended his team’s work: “We were ten points behind Barcelona and by December we were top. Football is unpredictable. We’ve only taken two points from nine, but not everything is bad. We accept the criticism, but I’m confident we’ll soon find our rhythm,” he said.Simeone admits the team has yet to reach its best level, but insists performances have been better than the numbers suggest. “I don’t want to justify the results, but we haven’t played that badly either. This is only the beginning, and I know the reaction will come,” he added. The next challenge will be against Villarreal, a tough opponent that will test the ability of a renewed squad featuring several young talents. For the Rojiblanco coach, this is the time to grow: “We have young players who excite me and give me hope. The road is long, but I’m convinced we’ll turn things around,” he said. The charismatic manager also underlined that his ambition remains intact: “Of course I want to win titles, always. But you have to walk before you run. We’re in that process. In difficult moments you can’t hide, and I don’t hide,” he concluded. The message from Simeone is clear: despite the poor start, Atlético Madrid remain firmly focused on competing for the top spots and will not give up on the dream of lifting the LaLiga title. According to their coach, the reaction is only a matter of time.
