Raphinha sends touching message to Fermin Lopez after Barcelona star suffers World Cup heartbreak

Raphinha has publicly shown his support for Fermin Lopez after the young Barcelona midfielder suffered a devastating injury that will rule him out of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Barcelona officially confirmed that Fermin sustained a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot during the recent match against Real Betis.

The club also announced that the midfielder will undergo surgery in the coming days as part of his recovery process.

With less than a month remaining before the World Cup begins, Fermin had established himself as a regular figure in Luis de la Fuente’s plans and was expected to play an important role for Spain during the tournament.

Instead, the injury is now expected to keep him sidelined for around two months, ending his hopes of participating in what would have been the biggest competition of his career so far.

Raphinha’s message of support

The news immediately triggered reactions from teammates and supporters, with Raphinha among the first Barcelona players to publicly comfort the midfielder.

Taking to Instagram shortly after the diagnosis became official, the Brazilian winger shared a short but emotional message directed towards his teammate.

“You’ll come back much stronger. I love you.”

It must be noted that Fermin had been enjoying the best season of his career under Hansi Flick and had become one of the biggest success stories inside Barcelona’s squad this year.

Despite facing intense competition, the young midfielder managed to force his way into a key role thanks to his energy, creativity and attacking impact.

Across all competitions, Fermin produced 13 goals and 17 assists, and those performances had practically secured his place in Spain’s World Cup plans before the injury changed everything within a matter of minutes.

Nothing but bad luck

Football often moves quickly, but few setbacks feel as painful as missing a World Cup just as a player reaches peak momentum.

That is exactly the situation Fermin now faces.

Over the last year, the Barcelona midfielder transformed from a promising academy talent into one of the most exciting young Spanish players in Europe.

This summer was supposed to confirm his arrival on the global stage. Instead, he now faces weeks of recovery and rehabilitation while watching the tournament from home.
