Scorchers Name Squad In Search Of Sixth Title

Fresh from signing with the Scorchers for BBL|16 earlier this week, fast bowler Joel Paris returns to the 14-player squad and is in the mix to play his first game since January 7.

Paris took 11 wickets at 16.72 through the first seven games of the tournament, before missing the Club’s last four games through injury.

With Paris returning, left-handed batter Sam Fanning has been omitted from the squad.

The Club booked its spot in the decider with a 48-run win over the Sixers on Tuesday night in The Qualifier, while the Sixers secured passage to The Final last night, eliminating reigning champions Hobart Hurricanes in The Challenger at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The two sides also faced off in the opening game of BBL|15, with Perth winning the rain-affected game by five-wickets.

It’s the sixth time the Club has hosted The Final, while they were also the higher ranked team in the BBL|04 and BBL|11 Finals in Canberra and Melbourne respectively.

Perth and Sydney have clashed nine times in BBL Finals, with Perth holding a 6-3 advantage, while the Scorchers also hold a 3-2 edge over the Sixers in season deciders.

An enormous crowd will descend upon The Furnace to support their local heroes, after the first allocation of tickets for Sunday was exhausted just 34 minutes after becoming available to the general public.

The final allocation was promptly snapped up this morning, placing the Club’s record home crowd of 53,886 – which braved extreme heat to witness the thrilling BBL|12 Final – under threat.
