India national cricket team vs Sri Lanka national cricket team match scorecard: India will resume Day two of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo in a commanding position after reaching 300/5 at stumps on the opening day on Sunday.

Dhruv Jurel (7*) will resume the innings with Saransh Jain (4*) at the other end. Having won the toss and opted to bat, India suffered a few early setbacks to finish the day on top.

Devdutt Padikkal was once again the standout performer with a knock of 117 as he forged a 120-run partnership with skipper Shubman Gill for the third wicket.

The left-hander anchored India's innings through a crucial phase after the dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. Shubman Gill also contributed with a half-century, reaching the milestone of 3,000 Test runs during his innings.

Rishabh Pant's fitness will also be a key talking point on Monday after the wicketkeeper-batter retired hurt on 3 after sustaining a wrist injury. India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, though provided a hopeful update, stating that Pant "should be fine" to resume batting on Monday.

For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers on Day 1, claiming three wickets, including the prized dismissals of Jaiswal and Gill. The hosts will need early breakthroughs on Monday to prevent India from establishing a potentially match-defining total.
