Bruno Fernandes named football writers’ player of the year

Fernandes has been instrumental in United’s rejuvenation this season, providing 19 assists in the English Premier League (EPL) and just one behind the current record-holders Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

His assists plus his eight goals have helped United secure next season’s Champions League with three more games to go.

Khadija Shaw of the Manchester City women’s team was voted for the women’s FOTY award category.

The duo will be honoured at the Footballer of the Year dinner in London on May 19.
