Royal Family live: Kate Middleton gives special Wimbledon lesson to Princess Charlotte with William and George

The Prince and Princess of Wales made a surprise visit to Wimbledon for the mens' singles final today, with Princess Charlotte and Prince George in tow

The Prince and Princess of Wales arrived at Wimbledon for the men’s singles final with Princess Charlotte and Prince George.

The royals arrived at the All England Club just after 3pm and began greeting a line up of guests including British wildcard Arthur Fery, who turns 24 today.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry was beaming with joy ahead of his trip to the King's Highgrove residence, where the monarch was reunited with his grandchildren after a family rift.

Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, last saw their grandfather in person during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. But Friday's meeting with Charles and Camilla was a positive move.

However Harry's issues with his brother are ongoing and show no sign of abating, with the family reunion taking place during the same afternoon William was playing in a charity polo match at Windsor.

As the sun is dipping down across SW19, the young prince has even mixed up his style with a boater hat and red sunglasses. Snazzy, indeed.

As the Wimbledon mens' final got underway, Kate and Charlotte were spotted sharing a special moment in the royal box.

Kate leant over and appeared to be giving Charlotte a quick rundown of tennis rules or tactics, pointing to various parts of the court.

Arthur Fery's 'really special' meeting with Kate

Fery said: "I mean the princess came to my match in the second round, it was great to have her there and we spoke a little about that.

“It was good to see her here and good to meet her finally. She wished me good luck for the rest of the year and congratulated me for these two weeks.

“I know the whole family are all tennis fans, so I told her if her kids ever wanted to hit, I’m free. It would be good to see them again.”

Princess Kate and Prince William will attend today’s Wimbledon final, Kensington Palace have announced.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will watch top seed Jannik Sinner’s match with Alexander Zverev on Centre Court.

It will be Catherine’s third appearance at the Championships this fortnight. The Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club handed the trophy to winner Linda Noskova yesterday.

She also took in the second day of the tournament, chatting to fans in the queue and even selling tickets to shocked spectators.

New details of meeting emerge

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s meeting with the King reportedly lasted little over an hour.

Prince Harry had been in the UK since Monday, with his wife Meghan and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet flying into the UK days ago

They travelled to Gloucestershire on Friday and it is believed that the family were full of smiles at Highgrove House.

The meeting happened sometime between 3.30pm and 4pm and a source told the DailyMail: “Harry turned up at Invictus with a massive smile plastered all over his face. Everybody was looking absolutely delighted. It wasn’t just acting.

“Liam [Maguire], his UK aide, looked absolutely like the cat that had got the cream as well. Then rumours started to go round that they were going to Highgrove.”

Was catering behind the Buckingham Palace stay decision?

The Queen’s former chef says one of the reasons behind Prince Harry and his family not staying at Buckingham Palace could be down to catering.

The Duke was forced to hastily look for a place to sleep after being told he could not stay at the royal residence.

It came after his spokesman announced on Monday morning that he had finally accepted an offer to stay for his visit last week.

Darren McGrady, who has cooked for all the family, said food may be behind the decision.

“Buckingham Palace is going through its major restoration - no one is there, and all the chefs, for the most part, have gone,” he told royal website CheatSheet.

“It would be a major operation to suddenly, at the very last minute, bring in a team of chefs and prepare the food. It wouldn’t just be chefs, but also bringing in the maids, security, and footmen. I do see the point in what they’re saying with regards to Harry coming and staying at the Palace.”

Retired pro tennis player Andy Murray is reminding people why Kate Middleton is a central figure to Wimbledon.

The 39-year-old British star, who retired in August 2024, told Hello Magazinethat he believes having the royals, like the Princess of Wales, 44, in the Wimbledon audience is a big part of the London-based tournament’s “identity.”

“I think it means a lot to the players and to tennis fans to see the royal family at Wimbledon,” the Olympic medalist said. “It’s part of the tradition of Wimbledon and the fans really like that, especially the overseas fans.”

Kate earlier met Shirley Rodriguez Yugsi, 11, who performed the coin toss for the ladies’ singles final on Centre Court, representing the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative (WJTI).

Shirley said meeting the princess was “unbelievable”, adding: “It was like a dream. I didn’t think it was happening. It was amazing. I would have never thought that I would get to shake her hand.”

She said Kate asked her what she was going to be doing that afternoon, and Shirely told her she had been selected for the coin toss.

“She said she was proud of me for doing for achieving it… for being the one picked to do it,” Shirley said.

The Princess of Wales has told a Wimbledon finalist that she is “inspirational” for continuing to play tennis while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Canadian tennis player Gabriela Dabrowski, who will play in the ladies’ doubles final on Centre Court on Sunday, met Kate at the championships on Saturday afternoon.

The tennis player said: “I guess someone told her, so she acknowledged that and just said it was amazing that I was still playing going through treatment, and she said it was very inspirational, which I feel the same likewise with her story as well.

“Just a very beautiful moment. I didn’t expect to be emotional, but yeah, very strange feeling.”

Dabrowski, who has a “few more years” of hormone therapy left to undergo, said Kate told her that she believes sport can “prove that your body is still strong”.

Ms Fontanilla said: “She’s so genuine. It felt so easy. I thought I was going to be really nervous, but she made it so easy. The conversation was very natural.”

She added: “Looking at her through the doors, it was just: ‘Oh my gosh, she’s here’, and then I overheard her with the other conversations, it just felt so natural, and it put peace over me.

“And then when she was right there, reaching out to shaking my hand, I was like: ‘Oh my gosh, which hand, which hand?’, and then I got there, and she was just, oh, that smile. It just brings you back, and she’s so genuine.

“The conversation was just so lovely. She’s a people’s princess, everyone says she’s one of the people, and I love it.”

Prince Louis eyes up becoming Wimbledon ball boy

Prince Louis wants to try his hand at becoming a ball boy, the Princess of Wales has suggested at Wimbledon.

The princess, wearing a bright strawberry red belted top and pleated midi skirt, met Jenna Fontanilla, who works in Wimbledon’s court services team. During their conversation, Kate brought up the topic of ball boys and ball girls, adding that her and William’s youngest child, eight-year-old Louis, had been asking her questions about the role.

Ms Fontanilla, 18, said: “She told me about how Louis was asking her about how to become a ball boy, and we were talking about how much hard work it is to be on court and how we work alongside the ball kids, and it’s just so lovely.”

But now, she's been asked to present the trophy to the winner of this afternoon's ladies' final between Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova.

The Duke of Sussex took part in “goat yoga” and was pelted with water bombs during his final public appearance on a family visit to the UK.

Harry’s visit to his late mother’s ancestral home this weekend is a golden chance for the Sussexes to teach their children about the Prince’s family history.

It is understood the Duke and Duchess have spent time at Althorp, where Diana’s brother, Charles Earl Spencer, still lives - and where Harry’s mother was laid to rest.

Royal expert Jennie Bond says it is the “ideal location” for the family.

“It’s the perfect place for Archie and Lilibet to learn more about the grandmother they will never know,” she told the Mirror.

“He has spoken of how much he wants his children to understand the history of their family, and being at Diana’s home is the perfect opportunity for them to begin to know about the Spencer side of their heritage”.

The Duke of Sussex took part in some goat yoga during a visit to Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire.

Prince Harry, the Global Ambassador for Scotty's Little Soldiers, didn’t duck the challenge at Scotty's Summer Festival. The Duke had fun alongside some 200 children and family members.

He spent the morning participating in a session of goat year, involving six nanny goats and their many four-month-old kids, during which the group was urged to “feel the freedom and presence” of the animals and to and “channel the spirit” of goats, mimicking their bleats and looking into their eyes.

JENNIE BOND: Reunion could put 'strain' on King and William's relationship

Royal expert Jennie Bond fears the King’s meeting with Prince Harry and his family may put an enormous stain on the Monarch’s relationship with Prince William.

Harry and William’s connection, according to the Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers, is “the worst it has ever been” as the Prince of Wales remains “deeply hurt” by Harry’s years of accusations levelled at the Firm.

"This is a family, the row is personal and I’m sure the King would need to be convinced that any reunion with his son and grandchildren would remain a private family matter,” she told the Mirror.

“It’s also tricky for Charles because he knows that a meeting with Harry and family would put a strain on his good relationship with William.

“That’s a difficult situation for any father, but deep down I’m sure he still loves his younger son, his darling boy as he always called him. And what grandfather wouldn’t want to see his little grandchildren?”

“Charles has long regarded the estate as his sanctuary. Hosting Harry, Meghan and their children there provided a secluded setting away from the formality and scrutiny of the London royal residences.”
