Peter Schmeichel is often fairly critical of Liverpool due to his links with Manchester United. However, over the last few years, the former ‘keeper has praised the Reds more and more for the style of football they play, coupled with the way they handle their transfers. And, last season, each of these things came hand-in-hand as Arne Slot’s men managed to run away with the Premier League title easily.Photo by Carl Recine/Getty ImagesThe 2025-26 summer window has also been fairly spectacular, and if they weren’t already favourites before the season started, they certainly will be now.Peter Schmeichel believes Giorgi Mamardashvili is one of the best goalkeepers in the worldIndeed, Liverpool may have ended up missing out on signing Marc Guehi this summer, but that didn’t stop them from spending over £400million on new arrivals.Of course, they also recouped a lot of the money they spent with the sales of players such as Jarell Quansah and Luis Diaz. And, even though players such as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are set to don the Red of Liverpool this season, it wasn’t either of them who Schmeichel was hyping up on Sunday, before their win against Arsenal.“Arne Slot’s trying to win every game. That’s how you win the Premier League. You have to back it up with quality,” he said in quotes relayed by BBC Sport.MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES“When I look at the Liverpool squad, there is quality everywhere. The players he has brought, he has brought in Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he is the back-up. That tells a story.”Liverpool have more than enough quality to win the Premier League this seasonGoing into the 2025-26 campaign, it was unclear whether Slot had the answers to win the Premier League title again after the way things ended in the 2024-25 season.Although Liverpool were one of the most dominant teams in the league throughout the vast majority of the campaign last term, their tactics were eventually figured out towards the end, resulting in them losing a fair few games. And, while the Reds may be a tad light in some areas of their first-team squad this season, they should still have more than enough quality to win the title. In addition to the Premier League, they’ll also want to make a better name for themselves in the Champions League to prove they’re one of the best teams in the world.Photo by Carl Recine/Getty ImagesAs mentioned, with players such as Isak and Wirtz now among their ranks, it’s hard to see how they don’t do even better than last season. And, unless they win at least one of the Premier League or Champions League, it’ll be a massive failure on their behalf.
