BBC ALBA and BBC Sport will provide extensive free-to-air coverage of Serie A during the new season, with a package of 38 live matches.Under a new agreement, BBC ALBA will broadcast nineteen live Serie A matches with Gaelic and English co-commentary, while BBC Sport will stream a further nineteen live matches on BBC iPlayer with English commentary. All matches shown on BBC ALBA will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.Coverage begins on Sunday 23 August 2026, when BBC ALBA screens Atalanta v Sassuolo, live from 7.35pm (7.45pm kick-off). Further match selections for both BBC ALBA and BBC Sport will be announced throughout the season.The deal comes at a time when Scottish interest in Italian football remains stronger than ever, with several Scotland internationals continuing to make their mark in Serie A.It builds on an agreement that BBC ALBA secured in the second half of last season to air live coverage of matches featuring Scotland’s international stars ahead of the national team’s return to the World Cup stage.Viewers will be able to follow the fortunes of players including Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour at Napoli, Lewis Ferguson at Bologna, Josh Doig at Sassuolo, and other Scottish talent competing across Italy's top flight.In addition to the Scottish contingent, this season’s coverage will also shine a spotlight on the growing presence of England internationals in Serie A following the recent transfers of John Stones and Djed Spence to Inter Milan.Margaret Cameron, Director of Content at MG ALBA, said: "MG ALBA is delighted to continue bringing top-class European football to audiences on BBC ALBA following the success of our coverage of Serie A last season."It remains one of the world's most exciting leagues and its appeal continues to grow among Scottish supporters thanks to the success of our players in Italy. This new agreement means fans can follow the stories, rivalries and key matches throughout the season, free-to-air and in Gaelic, while benefiting from the wider coverage available across BBC platforms."Alongside Gaelic-language commentary, BBC ALBA's coverage will feature analysis, reports and feature content produced by BBC ALBA's sports team in partnership with Sunset+Vine and BBC Sport.And BBC Sport will continue to bring additional content from Serie A which last season included a documentary for the BBC Scotland channel and iPlayer on Napoli’s Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour.Under the deal, BBC ALBA and BBC Sport are sharing the live rights for the season with TNT and DAZN. The agreement includes digital clips for social media, and it adds to BBC Sport’s European football portfolio which features Bundesliga and La Liga clips.
