Rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling appears to have avoided the worst-case scenario with his lower left leg injury sustained in the 49ers' 27-7 season-opening win over the Los Angeles Rams on Friday at Melbourne Cricket Ground.Coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters in Melbourne that Stribling sustained an ankle injury, noting that team doctors ruled out an Achilles injury."They checked his Achilles, said that was intact, but they’re not exactly sure of the magnitude of the ankle injury," Shanahan said. The second-round draft pick sustained the injury while making a cut on a route in the second quarter. He was helped to the 49ers sideline and then carted to the locker room. After a standout preseason, Stribling wasn't targeted before exiting his NFL debut.San Francisco 49ersFind the latest San Francisco 49ers news, highlights, analysis and more with NBC Sports Bay Area and California. Now the 49ers will await the results of further testing to see how much time Stribling will miss.
