Australian Open 2026 live: Talia Gibson kicks off second round on day four, Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz on Rod Laver Arena

For the second straight year, Australian Talia Gibson is in the second round as a wildcard.

Last year she was thumped 6-1, 6-0 by 11th seed Paula Badosa in the corresponding match, so we're hoping today's battle with 23rd seed Diana Shnaider goes a little more smoothly for the 21-year-old.

Gibson and Shnaider are first up on Kia Arena from 11am AEDT:

We're officially into the second round of the singles at Melbourne Park as we approach the halfway mark of week one.

Today is a massive day with six Australians putting their singles hopes on the line again including two, Alex de Minaur and Priscilla Hon, hitting centre court tonight.

There's a lot of tennis to go under the bridge (over the net?) before then so let's not mess around and get straight into it!
