How Newcastle could line up in Premier League clash vs Tottenham

Newcastle United responded to a frustrating Premier League opening weekend by securing a 3-2 victory over Championship side West Brom in the EFL Cup second round on Wednesday.

The Magpies had to work hard for the result, but they did enough to move into the third round, where they will face Millwall.

However, Newcastle have a few things to worry about ahead of Saturday's trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

They have dropped 29 points from winning positions since the start of the 2025/26 season, more than any other Premier League side.

Their away record is also worrying, with only four wins in their last 22 league matches on the road.

However, Newcastle have won 13 Premier League away games at Tottenham, more than against any other opponent, and have won three of their last four visits to North London.

How Newcastle could line up

After suffering a heartbreaking last-minute denial against Liverpool, Jaissle could be tempted to shake things up on matchday two.

Lukas Hornicek should retain his place in goal, while Amar Dedic will get another chance to bond with the rest of the back four, including Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, and Lewis Hall.

New signing Nico Gonzalez should be stripped and ready to make his debut alongside Academy graduate Lewis Miley in midfield.

Anthony Elanga should retain his place after opening the scoring against Liverpool, lining up alongside Yoane Wissa and Harvey Barnes.

Nick Woltemade will likely get his first start of a potentially make-or-break season after producing 16 goals and assists in all competitions last term.
