Peter Keane’s short spell with Aghabullogue has come to an end, with the former Kerry manager indicating that he is moving on.He initially joined the club on a temporary basis earlier this year, linking up with his brother Ray — who remains in charge — during a period when Ray was also managing the Cork U20 footballers.Keane’s arrival was viewed as a timely boost for Aghabullogue, offering an experienced voice around training and match preparation at a stage when Ray’s county commitments demanded additional support within the setup. The arrangement was understood from the outset to be short-term, but there had been an expectation within the club that Keane would stay on until the end of the season. His involvement brought a layer of detail and calm authority to a young dressing room, and players responded positively to his presence. Aghabullogue had a solid McCarthy Insurance Group Division 3 Football League campaign, narrowly missing out on promotion. However, Keane has now stepped away as the club moves into the next phase of its campaign, leaving Ray and the existing management team to carry the group forward into the McCarthy Insurance Group SAFC after winning the grade below last year. The Coachford-based outfit have Dohenys, Kanturk and Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh in their championship group.Elsewhere, Ned English’s arrival in Ballyclough has added a layer of experience and edge to a club eager to make a real imprint on this year’s Avondhu JAFC.After winter and spring spent balancing his commitments between Ballyclough and Kilshannig, English stepped away from the Kilshannig role in recent months, allowing him to fully concentrate on shaping Ballyclough’s championship push.English’s coaching reputation is built on structure, organisation, and getting the most out of honest, hard-working players. Ballyclough have responded to that approach to date.
