In early July, Prescott took the offensive skill players on an annual trip to bond and workout together for three days. This year, the destination was Park City, Utah where they spent some time on the lake in cool weather. While they were on the trip, Prescott presented a nickname for the offense heading into 2026 that he said was met with a lot of positive reviews: GOTI, meaning “Greatest Offense There Is”. “We were close to some historic things last year,” Prescott said. “And when you have the guys [on the offense], why can’t we be? Let’s be the Greatest Offense There Is. You’ve heard of the Greatest Show On Turf and all of the other nicknames. We take pride in it, and it’s the way we’ve been practicing.”

Tank Bigsby broke off multiple long runs to the end zone. He’s not someone you need to lock in on in order to notice him at practice; the way he moves is really eye-catching. I know I’ve been beating this drum a lot but I just can’t stop thinking about how the Eagles MUST get him more involved this season. He’s simply too electric to be an afterthought in this offense. Bigsby logged just 3.6 carries per game last season … and that’s with him benefiting from garbage time/the Eagles resting their starters in Week 18. His workload needs to be bigger in 2026.

OVERVALUED — From a passing perspective, Jalen Hurts had a decent 2025, tossing a career-high 25 touchdowns and topping 3,000 yards for the fourth time in five seasons as the starter. However, he dropped to just 421 yards and eight touchdowns rushing, both fewest since taking the helm in 2021. Specifically, with Jason Kelce gone and the tush push somewhat neutered, Hurts scored just five TDs from inside the 3-yard line last season, fewest as the starter and six fewer than he had in both 2023 and 2024 (11). As a result, he finished as the QB8 in fantasy, well below the elite tier he’d previously called home. With A.J. Brown’s departure and a(nother) first-time offensive coordinator in Sean Mannion, it’s tough to see Hurts’ passing numbers really improving. And with the Eagles lacking their former dominance at the goal line, the QB5 price tag in the fifth round is simply too high.

The defense took center stage on Day 2 of Training Camp. That’s no surprise since the Eagles should be a Top 5 defense in the league this season. The unit has playmakers at all three levels and is very talented overall.

Offensive line. Kubena (9): Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Markel Bell, Fred Johnson, Cam Jurgens, Landon Dickerson, Tyler Steen, Myles Hinton, Drew Kendall. The swing tackle battle is still in … full swing between Bell and Fred Johnson. But given Philadelphia’s third-round investment in Bell, the odds are stacked against Fred Johnson. Hinton, a sixth-round pick in 2025, continues to see reps at second-team left guard. Kendall is getting second-team reps at guard, too. I have not seen Kendall take snaps at center yet in training camp, but the Eagles know from his days at Boston College he can play the position. Berman (10): Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, Fred Johnson, Markel Bell, Drew Kendall, Myles Hinton, Micah Morris. I have the Eagles going deeper on the offensive line to develop their young linemen. Morris, a sixth-round pick who plays on the interior, makes sense to keep. Cameron Williams left practice early Thursday; it’ll be interesting to monitor his status. I was debating between Williams and Hinton before the injury and leaned toward Hinton because of position flexibility. Perhaps the Eagles will keep Michael Jordan because of his starting experience. What about Willie Lampkin, a player who intrigued the front office when it claimed him off waivers last summer?

Kicking and redeeming. I’m going to start with how practice started: Jake Elliott kicking field goals. It might not be as sexy as the new offense or how the rookies look, but the Eagles need Elliott to return to form this season. He’s coming off back-to-back down years, and yet the team didn’t add competition in camp. Kickers are essentially competing with whoever is on the street. But special teams coordinator Michael Clay’s comment about Elliott during the spring — that his job was to help the 10-year veteran “fall in love with the game again” — made me wonder if Elliott could have benefited from additional pressure. His camp got off to a solid start in windy conditions. He made 6 of 7 kicks, hitting from around 33, 35, 37, 43, 43 and 46 yards. He hooked a 40-yard try wide left. Elliott has a natural tendency to draw the ball, and the wind was blowing in that direction, so it was a tough kick from the right hash mark. Nevertheless, he has more riding on this summer’s performance than he has in years.

The best news of Eagles camp: A healthy Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens - NBCSP

Considering what Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson have been through the last couple years and the questions they faced coming into training camp, that’s awfully encouraging. Both dealt with serious injuries during the 2024 Super Bowl run, and last year Jurgens missed three games with a knee injury and dealt with lingering back pain, and although he did make his second straight Pro Bowl he was just a shell of his usual self. And this time last year Dickerson was out with a torn meniscus that had to be scoped and then dealt with back and ankle injuries during the season. Although he played 16 of 18 games, he was also just a shell of his three-time Pro Bowl self. Both spent time this offseason in Medellin, Columbia, receiving stem-cell treatments to try to get healthy enough to regain their elite form, and here we are at training camp and both are full-go and look fine. It’s only a couple days, but it’s awfully encouraging seeing both of them out there running around with no apparent issues. Without elite offensive line play, the offense can’t function at a high level. And without the offense functioning at a high level, the Eagles aren’t going to be Super Bowl contenders.

The real measure will be whether Philadelphia continues bringing HBCU football back after Jackson and Vick are no longer the primary attraction. An annual weekend could rotate programs, strengthen Lincoln’s connection to the city and give Northeast alumni a recurring destination. The foundation already exists. Philadelphia has the history, alumni population, NFL partnership and geographic location. Last year’s 47,266 fans proved the audience could still be activated. This October represents the next step. Delaware State–Norfolk State can expand the crowd, while Lincoln–Virginia Union can reconnect the city with its local HBCU football roots. Philadelphia is not trying to invent a new tradition. It is trying to bring one home and give HBCU football a stronger future in the Northeast.

Jerry Jones was blunt, stating that he feels good enough about this team to be comfortable in pulling the trigger to make a big trade to help them go from good to great. He knows the clock is ticking and he doesn’t have a lot of time to lolligag if he wants to capitalize on a dwindling window where Dak Prescott is leading the offense. Time is of the essence. Jones is always saying things. He is quite the talker, but he created real excitement by leaking that he had just recently been on the phone with some unnamed owner discussing a big trade to strengthen the defense. He backpedaled slightly to avoid implicating himself in any potential tampering violations, but it was too late. Jones now has the fanbase believing they are just a piece here or there away from something big happening in Dallas, and maybe, just maybe, Jerry is going to finally push those chips in the middle.

He was traded to the Commanders last year, for a 2025 fifth-round pick, to be their No. 2 behind Terry McLaurin, but ended the season as the most productive receiver due to McLaurin missing time. Samuel had 72 receptions for 727 yards and 5 TDs, along with 17 rushes for 75 yards and another score in 16 games. Deebo was an effective kick returner as well, returning 15 kicks for a 30.1 yards/return average. Washington wasn’t expected to re-sign him, and now that option is off the table with him returning to San Francisco. [BLG Note: The Commanders giving up a fifth-round pick for Deebo wasn’t a big price to pay but Washington also had to pay him above $17 million, over $12 million of which will count against their cap this year in dead money. Not a good value.]

NY Giants training camp: Abdul Carter has big day - Big Blue View

Abdul Carter had the kind of day at New York Giants training camp on Thursday that the Giants and their fans can only dream about him having once the 2026 regular season begins. Working against All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas, the second-year edge defender had at least two would-be sacks of Jaxson Dart, and broke through the line to bat down a tight end screen intended for Isaiah Likely. Carter also did his fair share of woofing, the cleaned-up version of which is Carter stating that Thomas was going to have to put in some work during this training camp. Thomas, one of the NFL’s best offensive tackles, wasn’t engaging in the trash talk.

$50M QBs in the NFL - Over The Cap

I think if you take a step back and have an honest look at these numbers you can see why teams should be pushing back more on the QB contracts. Teams probably have a bit more to lean on with the Seahawks winning the title with a mid tier type contract at the position and that is something that had not existed in the past- all of the mid level signings ended up being poor players- but the problem is the alternative can be a total draft disaster if they do not get their QB locked up. If there is a happy medium it probably is to make the QB contract more incentive based based on wins and performance to where a player like Mayfield can reach that $50M a year average if he delivers on the field year after year. That certainly is different than what we see now, but that may be an area that teams and players should look at in the future.
