Manchester United fail in move for Real Madrid forward as cover for injured Benjamin Sesko

United are reportedly in the transfer market for attacking reinforcements amid concerns over Sesko's fitness.

The summer signing came off the bench during the 2-2 draw with Tottenham at the weekend, but was unable to see out the game following a tough challenge by Micky van de Ven.

Sesko lay prone on the pitch, clutching his left knee, before United's medical team deemed him unable to continue.

The striker has since withdrawn from international duty with Slovenia and United have sent him for further tests to determine a clearer prognosis over the injury amid hopes it is not a serious setback.

But Ruben Amorim has reportedly already tried and failed to bring in a fresh face to bolster his attack in January with Endrick set to join Lyon on loan.

Endrick and Madrid have decided a temporary move will be best for his development after falling out of favour under head coach Xabi Alonso.

The teenager was considered one of world football's most exciting talents when he signed for Madrid in 2022, but has been restricted to just 11 minutes of football this season amid fitness issues.

Globo Esporte report that Endrick has pushed for a move away in January in an attempt to earn his place in Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad, having been left out of the last four Brazil squads by his former Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Endrick is now expected to spend the remainder of the season in Ligue 1 after Lyon pounced quickly to register their interest.

United lodged their own move in recent days but Endrick, the report claims, believes he will get more first-team minutes in France.
