History will be on the line when Spanish ace Carlos Alcaraz faces Serbian legend Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open 2026 men’s singles final at Melbourne Park’s iconic Rod Laver Arena on Sunday.

The Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic Australian Open tennis final is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) on February 1 and will be available to watch on live streaming and telecast.

World No. 1 and top seed Alcaraz, 22, stands on the brink of history. Victory in Melbourne would make him the youngest man ever to complete the career Grand Slam, surpassing the benchmark set by compatriot Rafael Nadal.

The Australian Open remains the only tennis major missing from his collection. In fact, this is the first time he has progressed beyond the quarter-finals in the hard-court season opener Grand Slam.

On the other side of the net, fourth-seed Djokovic is chasing a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title, which will take him past the legendary Margaret Court’s tally.

The 38-year-old Djokovic, three years on from his last major triumph at the US Open, is also aiming to become the oldest men’s singles Grand Slam champion in tennis history by surpassing Ken Rosewall’s long-standing record in the Open Era.

Both finalists arrive in the decider after surviving five-set semi-final marathons. Alcaraz edged past Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Alexander Zverev in a five-hour and 27-minute-long epic - the longest semis clash in the tournament’s history.

Djokovic, meanwhile, produced a vintage performance to overcome defending champion Jannik Sinner in a four-hour and nine-minute-long thriller. The Serb is already a record 10-time Australian Open champion.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic head-to-head

The Australian Open 2026 final will mark the 10th meeting between Alcaraz and Djokovic, almost five months after their last clash in the US Open semi-finals, which Alcaraz won.

The Serbian leads the rivalry 5-4 and also holds a 3-1 edge over the Spaniard on hard courts.

However, it's Alcaraz who holds a 3-2 edge over his veteran opponent in Grand Slam tennis, which includes two wins in two Wimbledon finals. This will be the two’s third meeting in a Grand Slam summit clash.

The two rivals also famously met in the Paris 2024 Olympics final, where Djokovic claimed gold in straight sets at Stade Roland-Garros.

Djokovic was also victorious the last time they met at the Australian Open, defeating Alcaraz in four sets in the 2025 quarter-finals.
