A costly mix-up with skipper Shubman Gill ended Yashasvi’s stay at the crease at 175 runs. Attempting a single off Jayden Seales’ delivery to mid-off, Yashasvi had reached three-quarters of the way towards Gill when the captain didn’t respond in time.

The alert Tagenarine Chanderpaul pounced, moving swiftly to his right and throwing the ball to keeper Tevin Imlach, who rattled the stumps to effect the run-out. The 175-run effort denied Yashasvi a maiden double century, leaving him visibly dejected as he slammed his forehead and trudged off the field. This innings also ranks among the highest individual scores by Indian batsmen ending in a run-out. The list is led by Sanjay Manjrekar’s 218 against Pakistan in Lahore in 1989, followed closely by Rahul Dravid’s 217 at The Oval in 2002 and 180 in Kolkata in 2001. Yashasvi’s 175 now slots in fourth, ahead of Vijay Hazare’s 155 against England in 1951 and Dravid’s 144 against Sri Lanka in Kanpur in 2009.
