Olympians Manika Batra, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Manav Thakkar and Harmeet Desai will lead a 10-member Indian contingent at the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships 2026 in London, England, on Tuesday.The World Team Table Tennis Championships matches, to be played at the OVO Arena Wembley, will be available to watch on live streaming and live telecast in India.The table tennis tournament features separate men’s and women’s competitions - the Swaythling Cup and the Corbillon Cup, respectively. Each tie consists of up to five singles matches, with the first team to win three rubbers progressing.A total of 64 teams - divided into 16 groups of four - feature in each of the men’s and women’s events.The top two seeded groups, featuring the top seven teams plus hosts England, start in Stage 1a; the remaining teams play in Stage 1b.All eight teams from Stage 1a progress to Stage 2, which features knockout games. However, they still play group games to determine the seedings in the next stage.Meanwhile, from Stage 1b, the 14 group winners and six best second-placed teams qualify for Stage 2.The remaining eight second-placed teams play an extra preliminary round of matches to determine four further qualifiers.The knockout rounds begin from the round of 32, culminating in the finals.India’s men, led by world No. 38 Thakkar, are drawn alongside Slovakia, Tunisia and Guatemala in Group 7 of Stage 1b. The women’s team, spearheaded by world No. 49 Batra, will face Ukraine, Uganda and Rwanda in Group 6 of Stage 1b.The World Team Table Tennis Championships were first staged as a standalone competition in 2000. Since then, the People’s Republic of China have dominated the event.Sweden won the men’s competition in 2000 while Singapore bagged the women’s crown in 2010.
